Steep Learning Curve

So I just got the game about a week back, the civil war one. Have played the Marius/Sulla scenario twice now. Once as Marius & one as Sulla.
Marius first, ended as a minor defeat, came 2nd behind Pontus. It's funny I kept reading on how Sulla comes back to Italy with his legions & that's it game over, but he never came, a unit of his popped up in Africa & then Spain, but I made short work of them. Anyway by the end I had full control of Italy and Sicily, but was still chasing down rebels in both Africa & Spain. I carried on the game, moved my Africa legions to Spain to finally secure it, leaving the locals to chase down the rebels, that last city in Africa, I found to be a real pain to take. Took all remaining legions to take on Pontus in Greece, a good amount 8+. What happened next was the steep learning curve, never take a army across the sea & try and take a hostile city. The whole army gone in one attack, so then I kinda of gave up on that one, as the game was finished anyway.
Sulla, was great fun, his legions just wipe the floor, only time I lost in Greece was leaving a small force at a capital city & when I lost Ephesus (if I play again, I'll sacrifice this city & take their money). While playing this scenario I kept thinking how the hell I'm I going to do the whole of Asia Minor & get back to secure Italy, but after taking Ephesus back, Pontus asked for peace which I gladly gave him. In Italy I built as many Legions as I could, strong garrisons in towns etc, I kept Rome throughout, while playing cat & mouse with Marius's Legions across Italy, sometimes I would split into two armies, but found it best as one, staying close to Rome & keeping a corridor of towns to the Adriatic Sea. Sent most of Sulla's legions across the Strait of Otranto, no storms, but of course as soon as I click on the next turn a storm wipes out half the force. Once in Italy I reinforced Sulla's legions with some Italia ones and headed for Gaul, the Italian legions to finish of the south of Italy & take Sicily. Around this time I won the minor victory, game 1st, minor or not. Again I carried on play to the point where Sulla was just about to head into Gaul & Sicily was nearly done & I had my eyes on Africa. Then the game crashed, every time I tried to take the the next turn, crashed back to the main menu. Maybe I went outside the limits of the scenario, but its a shame.
So now to my gripes, there had to be some right...
1, The endless chasing of a army, that is & should be dead, you sent your unit to attack, 2 days travel. The enemy unit moves & you waste like 28 days. So there should be a pursuit mode, where you can set the army to chase down the enemy unit, this would have it's risks of course, the enemy could merge with another army & then your outnumbered etc.
2, Naval transports, I took a army across the Strait of Otranto, maybe there are a lot of storms here I don't know, but my point is that it doesn't take 30 days to cross & no army would spend those days sitting in ships at the dock. So armies should automatically dis-embark when they meet landfall.
Anyway, thoroughly enjoyably way to waste a whole day........
