huge lost of VPs in 1 turn - is it OK?

Hi, everyone!
I am playing PBEM game of 4 emperors scenario.
I am playing infamous Otho side, and other player is playing Vitellius side.
Last turn Vitellius managed to capture 1 city in Hispania and I got event "Hispanian governor joins Vitelius".
And at the same time I lost 443 VPs imidiately and my VPs count goes from 253 right to the -161.
How could it happen?
Form manual I read that
Once earned, Victory Points are never lost except in cases where a player has decided to promote a Leader outside
the normal Seniority hierarchy (i.e., players do not lose VPs if their own units are destroyed or if they lose control
of designated Objectives).

Or was it some kind of bug?
Playing Otho is hard enough even without such unexpected losses of VPs.
Yes I know if I will manage to hold the Rome or at least keep Otho alive it could be considered like some kind of achievement, but anyway I feel myself slightly discouraged now.

Hi.

We would need a saved game (with at least backup1) and the scripts folder content of the host player to check what happened.

Thanks

Hi

The problem is that the manual is wrong (outdated). Loss of objectives and armies cause loss of VP, and when Otho loses Hispania he loses a lot of troops and also at least 3 objective cities.

Sorry for the wrong info on manual

Franciscus, thank you for clarification.
Now I can be sure that it was not a bug.
No matter how low my VPs count will be in this match, if I will manage to keep Otho alive by the end of the game I would consider this as minor victory.
