Which game to start from AJE or Birth of the Rome?

I'm going to try mabbe, which game has less steep learning curve? Historically I'd prefer Birth of the Rome, but I've read it's difficult to get into...

Both games are using the same rules and same working. On the contrary, I believe Birth of Rome is better for a beginner because scenarios are shorter and the playable areas smaller in scope..ideal to start!

They are both fairly low unit density games. I don't think a beginner has to worry about being overwhelmed with units as maybe in RUS or CWII. Instead I would go with AJE first-the scenarios are more interesting and challenging because they use the whole map. The scope is grand yet still has low unit density. I think AJE is perfect for a beginner.

I've not yet played Birth of Rome, but from the AARs I've seen as well as my experience with AJE I can second Jagger, the more limited amount of units in play in both games in comparison to other titles on the engine probably would make for a more gentle entrance into AGE-engine games I'd imagine.

Thirded! AJE and BOR are basically the same game but different scenarios. If BOR sounds more historically interesting, go with it. AJE/BOR is definitely the best game for beginners in the AGE lineup, you can't go wrong with either title. Welcome, and enjoy!

Strongly suggest AJE, simply because it's much better. Also, the Parthian Wars DLC requires it. And Cantabrian Wars.

I also recommend AJE, because I think it has better scenarios.
