How to wage guerrilla warfare?

Hi all. I've been playing this game for several months, and have played a number of other AGEOD titles. I'm very impressed with the system.

One thing however I've never really gotten the hang of is how to make best use of one's light troops - raiders, skirmishers, etc - particularly in the form of small detachments, except in gathering information, and even then that's not terribly useful because of the delays that are inherent to the WEGO system. If I detach them to try to ravage enemy lands and thus hamper the enemy's supply issues, they tend to get stomped before they do much damage.

What are other players' strategies? Do you go wagon hunting? Lay ambushes? Use them to trade space for time? Or just as scouts?

Lay ambushes is one thing, the other is to be in feint/probe mode all the time. You want to hit the road if they spot and try to engage you. Also, winter-time operations are more successful because the bad weather can give higher "hide" attributes.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.
