I'd love to know that as well.

The next expansion is a thematic expansion, based on wars on a specific theater... :sherlock:

I can't comment on any official scenarios but this is a good opportunity to plug my Aurelian mod with an early screenshot! :)
Hopefully available at the end of the year. Covers 270AD - 275AD+

Hobbes, that mod looks very interesting!

What about the Dacian wars? The manual teases that it will be released at a later date -- will it be a separate DLC or part of this expansion?

That's about as informative as saying the next expansion has something to do with Roman history. :neener:

Hobbes, I'm looking forward to your scenario. Do you already have the graphics for naked Zenobia? ;)

I want some late Empire stuff, and I really want Sextus Popmey Vs. Anthony Vs. Octavian. Also Gallic Wars. Finally, Brutus Vs. Anthony/Octavian.

The Second Punic War is a no-brainer. An expansion for this war can't be too far down the pike!

Over in the French forum, there's a thread where they confirmed that the Second Punic War is coming up in the "next few months". Very excited about that!

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?28583-Sc%E9narios-%E0-venir&p=265204#post265204

The manual shows screenshots of the Dacian wars, and they also confirmed that's being planned in the same thread. Those are the ones I'd like to see most!

It's surprising though that they're not planning an Octavian vs Marc Anthony civil war. Other than Caesar vs Pompeii, that would have to be the most obvious Roman vs Roman scenario.

Very excited about playing with or against Hannibal, too!

I am however wondering how they will make it so it actually plays out just a bit like the real war.

For example:
- how do they make it so that the Roman player actually attacks Hannibal in the first years - he knows that he will get utterly defeated, what's his incentive to attack? This could be made better by things like morale penalty when not attacking etc. but maybe this could be exploited again by attacking with less units or similar
- will African troops get replenished in Italy? Is it even possible to make reinforcements area-restricted?
etc

I remember one really great Hannibal game, I think it was a boardgame adaption:Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic War
How did they "fix" these problems? Well... they made the Romans AI only :bonk:

I'm not sure why the need for so much secrecy :) Paradox for instance have developer diaries and announcements saying what the next expansion is going to be about. This creates anticipation and interest. I understand you work with a much smaller team and that dev diaries might take away from the development effort, but if it's already in beta some things are pretty much set at this point, right?

It is Ageod (i.e., PhilThib and Pocus) that decide when and how the announcements are made. Nevertheless, it should be imminent...

Did you consider letting one of your beta testers write an AAR? In my opinion, AAR's can be one of the best selling strategies of a game like this - I think that all other "usual" marketing things for a game (trailer, short undetailed preview on some gaming site) fall a bit short because it is not really possible to tell much about the game like that. I can only speak for myself, but for example I bought Rise of Prussia and Revolution under Siege only because I read some very well-written AAR's on the Paradox forums! (And those are not the only games!)

Not funny, Ebbingford. The stress of waiting is great. If you know, speak!

If he speaks, this will be his last famous words! ;)

(joking obviously, Ebbingford is a great guy!)

Next Expansion/Release is not ready, too ''green'', for an AAR.

I do not know what comunication plan is but Beta AAR are always welcome.

The Second Samnit War ?

It could be very hard to create ! I know the Caudin Forks are interesting, but very hard to simulate too.
It could be possible in the future, but sorry, it will not be the next expansion !
