I'm ready for some new campaigns. Is there any idea when the first dlc is coming?

After several months of advanced research (well... there's a file named "CantabrianWars29" in the AJE files) I conclude that I am rather sure one of the soon-to-be released DLCs will be about the Cantabrian Wars.

Hobbs can correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the impression that a DLC which includes Trajan's Dacian wars and the Crisis of the Third Century (AD) will be out late in 2013.

Punic Wars and Gallic Wars, please!

Late 2013!!??..I hope that's a mistake.

My mod has nothing to do with DLCs which I have no involvement in so I have no idea when the DLCs will be available.

Any new info on planned scenarios/DLC? Can we maybe even expect one before Christmas? (Im allowed to hope, no?)

They quote a press release from AGEOD, according to which the Birth of Rome DLC will be released on 20 December, and will include:
- the 3rd Samnite war
- Senon wars (celtic tribe)
- Pyrrhic wars
- first punic war, with possibility to start half way as it is a super-long campaign
- the "Salembo" war between Carthage and its revolted mercenaries

I can't wait to play the 1st Punic war on Carthage's side!

And I am wandering when will they publish something on the 2nd punic war...

The only thing that worries me with this expansion pact is the fact that most of those wars are fought in a very small region, Samnite just in the central and northern parts of Italy and 1st Punic mostly just in Sicily and Africa. Dunno if the Aje map can handle them properly.

i want the second and third punic war as scenarios also,with the better general of all times hannibal barca.
if these scenarios have the historical accurate and historical desicions and events is can be epic.

I would add though that although the Birth of Rome is cool, what I'm really looking forward to is the 'Death of Rome' DLC.

Well, unfortunately, BOR will be delayed to January, as there is still a lot of work to do on balancing the scenarios and we feel it's not ready for release yet

Yes, now, we can confirm the fact that Birth of Rome is the next AJE extension !

BIRTH OF ROME is the first of the expansion packs that the AJE team is preparing for this historical strategy title that should cover ultimately all the Roman era. It shall be available on January 2013, at the price of de 19,99 €. The AJE team is working intensely to allow you simulating the following new wars :

-The 3rd Samnite War opposing Rome and the Etruscan and Samnite tribes between 298 and 291 BC, that will bring Roman control of central Italy.

-The Senones War (284 to 282 BC), a violent Gallic tribe in Northern Italy at war against Rome. Victory against those powerful Celtic warriors allows the Romans to take their revenge against those who plundered Rome en 390 BC.

-Pyrrhic Victories (280 BC to 272 BC) where the Senate of Rome finally manages to capture Tarentum and southern Italt after having repulsed one of the greatest ancient warrior king, Pyrrhus of Epirus.

-The First Punic War, a very long campaign between 264 and 241 BC, pitting Rome versus Carthage for the control of Sicily. A balanced struggle, focusing on naval operations. A shorter version starts in 256 BC.

-The Mercenary War (241 BC to 238 BC), a fight between an exhausted Carthage and her own rebelled mercenaries in Africa. Not suited for sensitive minds…

BIRTH OF ROME requires ownership of the ALEA JACTA EST game, as it is not a standalone product.

Guys, I love you. As I got the news earlier from wargamer.fr I thought it will be release this month, but I can easily wait one, two, three more months. It s been since the SPQR boardgame that I am waiting for this, so I won t mind couple of more months ! Plus I was really asking myslef how you will deal with the Second punic war, I see that you found the right answer - to start earlier, thus meaning a balanced configuration, as Carthage's power was ( with different carateristic of course ) as mighty as Rome's one. This offers enough depth to make me happy for a very long while. I am aslo looking for the second extension on Parthian's war, sounds very interesting.

Regarding Soulstrider remark about most of those wars are fought in a very small regions, does that mean we will see new maps restricted only to some regions but more detailed (with more provinces)?

No this is the same Map but the new objectives will be there like Henna in Sicily for exemple in former empty spaces because they will be contested in some scenarios.
There are not any problems because the theater is smaller and the Small Spartacus scenario is still a favorite of many players thus don't worry about that. You will get all the action you want or expect.

Too bad Birth of Rome has been delayed until past the Ides of Januarius. Was so hoping to be playing it by the end of Saturnalia but still very much anticipating this. Thanks.

If you don't mind answering a simple question, out of curiosity does any of this scenarios allow 3 players? I guess I can somewhat see Carthage being playable in the Pyrrhic wars and Syracuse in the the First Punic.

The Carthaginians will be played by the Roman Player (Pyrrhus) and the Syracusans by Carthage and Rome once they switch sides.

Message to AJE team: Take your time for the new opus! Time makes good things ... see our french cheese!

Not my favorite era of Rome but that's a nice section of campaign's so I'm definitely looking forward to it, especially Phyrrus

Very cool. Pyrrhus of Epirus was a fascinating character and up until now noticeably absent from games. Loved his quote about how his withdraw from Italy will set the stage for a truly titanic struggle between Rome and Carthage.

Birth of Rome has been delayed to January? That's cool. I should be ready to give Distant Worlds a rest by about that time.

BTW, I love your AJE artwork. I would I love to have some of those prints hanging in my house.

Great news ! Anyway the second punic war it woluld be amazing

My preferred scenarios, either in DLC or as official expansions:

- 2nd Punic War (a monster scenario).
- Zenobia (the Palmyra kingdom).
- The Fall of the West (another monster scenario, involving huns and allies, as they try to invade either East and West empires).
- Empire Reborn (the East, Bizancio, try to unify the Empire again. Belisarius).
- Conquest of the Gallia.
- Teotoburg (the Empire tries to conquer Germania).

Over 1000 years have a lot to be included

romano sirian war with antioco.

Looks good. Now we'll finally get a chance to smash some Etruscan vases, annihilate our Greek armies in order to win at sudden death, and squabble with ourselves in the Carthaginian Senate. And all in the same game. The only thing missing is a chance to make our horse a Senator.

I hope we'll have more campaigns in Macedonia and Greece in the future. Maybe the number of regions should be higher there though.
