Hi folks!

I have questions regarding those african, hellenistic ... whatever traits, which some leaders, for example the numidians or lagides have, regarding their effectivness loss in foreign terretories.

What are exactly the restrictions they face when fighting outside their home terretories? Are these traits also count for units of these nationalities, if you for example attach them to roman generals. I only noticed higher travel lenghts in the game as well as higher command costs, but the other restrictions aren't clear to me ... Are there also some things about wore frontage or something or loss of combat strength?
I also read somewhere that not even all commanders/units are marked for their home territory traits ...

Yeah, it's much needed in a future patch. Too much confusion now. I.e. playing as Vitellius you have - besides legions - Gallic/Briton/German auxilia cohorts & alas which have normal speed & CP costs. At the same time you have many Germanic mercenaries, which crawl like turtles outside Germania and have much higher CP costs - but they look exactly the same as auxilia (background colour) and have no special abilities indicating this difference. OTOH, there are Batavian generals in your army (which is pointed in their special abilities), which seem to have no malus when commanding legions.

Units (elements, actually) who have a trait that says that they cannot leave their territory have the following malus when they do :

Leaders :
Strategic : - 2
Offensive : - 2
Defensive : - 1
Maybe some other malus I cannot understand (this is in the "GameLogic file", at the Home Area Penalty section)

Troops :
Discipline : - 3
Max Cohesion : - 15
Move speed : 33% of base movement only

In addition, they have a +10 max cohesion bonus when at home.

Most Roman and Hellenic troops have no malus when "abroad". Unfortunately, as of 1.00, there are some units (the Germans for instance) who have "homesick malus" even though it is not indicated anywhere.

higher command costs

All units have a x4 CP command cost if there is no leader of their nationality in the stack. Usually, a different nationality has a different "color" BUT yet again, the Germanic get a free pass (they have the same color as the Romans) because the Beta because they were overlooked (beta's fault - including me). It will be changed in the next patch.

See above. No frontage malus

Well, yes, there is an issue with German / Gallic / Briton which look like Romans but are "different" in engine term. If you spot any other, report them. It is on the dev punch list, as far as I know.

as you speak of other limitation, do you mean

areaOutsideHomeAbi = -1 // -1 level to abies (can render them inactive)

as it saids, nilling most abilities (which have only one level) bonus and as the strategic value goes down, the activation of commanders gets harder, thus even eliminating most higher valued abilities, if i remember right

Player will have more information about AreaBound penalty for units and leaders in next patch.
