Just bought RUS, and fired it up.

First thing: Naval boxes handling is stuck in 50% option. Is it WAD ?

Second: I was unable to play, as I tried first the Drang scenario (great idea, BTW) as Germany and then the grand campaign as Syberian Whites, and got CTD.

The main log of the last crash is attached.

i'm using the retail version without problem. So either there's something with install process, or with tthe Drang scenario. Have you tried to restart your computer and load RUS again?

If you're yet getting CTD, try this: unzip and place this file in the RUS/FrontEnd directory.

It does not help. Tried your file, CTD keeps ocurring, apparently in all scenarios.

I will try later the old "uninstall/reinstall" routine (rebooting did not help, of course). If it does not help...onwards, comrades, to RUS 1.01

Found it !

It's the "Limit map loading" option: If turned on, I get CTD. If turned off (default), map loads fine and no CTD.

Haa, the joys of bug hunting...

Just to report the same problem here. Solved turning off the option of limit map loading.
