So I never got the Gold version and it's now cheap so I thought I'd buy it. RUS is one of my favorite AGEOD titles but just never got around to buying the gold.
What does the minipatch in the pinned topic actually do in gameplay?

From its ReadMe:
" Patch changes :
- reduces the XP and cohesion bonus of the White Military dictatorship to 4 turns,
and adds randomly Red loyalty if there is a Military Dictatorship
and Green loyalty if there is a Bolshevik dictatorship.
- attempt to make the conscript training upgrade when it gain 1 star XP to work for more units on the map "

Oh my goodness, it is a total redo and a huge step up in game systems. The introduction of theatre commanders, alone, is a new and dynamic addition. This Gold is not just a polish, but a reimagining of the game and the underlying history. Additionally, some new scenarios for exploration.
Some factions, such as the Czechs are totally different. Now the Czechs cannot run a power offensive, but instead can defend the rails, pretty much only.
A lot of fun.

I get a lot of weird crashes in this game. Wonder how I could fix it.
Don't remember them from the original.

Yes, boringly the engine gets old bad.

I do not get crashes at all. Perhaps because I only play one turn at a time.
