Hello all,

This won t certainly change the gameplay, but I noticed something for a while and I want to share with you, fellow Ageodians :

The Chinese flag is absolutely inaccurate. It s at best the late Qing dynasty one, but the game takes place during the Warlords era. Although it wont be perfect( flag of the local faction would be better ), it is certainly more accurate to use the early republican one with the five stripes on it.

I know, it doesn t matter but for once that I can help

It matters. If not, why do you post?
but for once that I can help

Thank for your advice. Yes you're allowed to help: Don't be shy giving your sources or flag pictures.

It is a good point.

Without getting into my game, I believe the current flag is this:

http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cn-dragn.html

which Vadim correctly points out was at least somewhat out of date by the time of this mod.

A better flag, as he says, would be this one:

http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cn-nqta.html

in use from 1912 to 1929

Hello all,

Deguerra got it well : I was thinking about the early republican flag. The Qing dynasty was overthrown in 1911-12 ( depend "where" you put the end, the revolution or the days they proclame the Rep Of China ) so it can t be late Qing flag. I think everybody will agree on that.

Then, the question remains - who controled that aera ( Manchuria let s say, as it has border with Russia.) Not so easy to answer because it changed between 1918 and 192X. Game starts when the Beiyang army started to split in various factions ( or "clique") after Yuan Shikai's death in 1916.
The Fengtian clique ( led by Zhang Zuolin, an interesting historical character) became the leading force in the region soon after, but it loss one war around 1922 and came back in 1924.
It will make sense to use Fengtian flag as they virtually controled the region till the Northern Expedition ( exept for those two years). And Fengtian has a wiki, with flag on it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fengtian_clique

As one can read, some White Russians fought with them after the end of the Civil War. In his bio of Chiang Kai-shek s early years, Fenby aslo recall ( couple of times actually) a White Russian mercernary band which used an armed train(heavy or light, he doesn t tell). If I remember well they finally got destroyed by the Nationalist forces.

About the flag, to use Deguerra's early republican one would also make sense because IN THEORY all warlords( not sure but almost) recognized the Central Governement of the Republic. Of course they were the real master of their own territory and would never listen anyone but themselves, country was virtually divided in many small "states" but it never formally explosed. You never had a Republic of Hunan or even a formal independant Manchuria for example.
So you can use it as well, up to you. Both are correct.

I think this has been brought up a couple of times, and at this point it seems unlikely that anything will be done about it.

Don't just talk, do it yourself, and someday your future little mod will be included.

All I can offer is to include it in my mod.

I have noticed though, that the Siberian flag has been corrected by enthusiasts that care for historical accuracy such as Barbu and Hahaetz. Maybe someone could ask one of them for correcting the Chinese flag as well?
