DRM question

I was looking at gamesgate and I noticed it had other DRM listed for Revolution under siege but it didn't specify what it was. So does the game have some form of DRM or was gamersgate mistaken?

I think you have to ask to GG.
I don't think there's any drm, the usual Ageod code protection does not seem being a drm.
Or maybe RUS is now owned by Kalypso Media and has its drm? http://www.impulsedriven.com/products/ESD-IMP-W2098
Not in Kalypso: http://www.kalypsomedia.com/en-us/index.shtml
Who's right? :sherlock:

Yeah I'm kinda confused by it cause gamestop has it for a good price right now was just wondering about the drm if any is all.

I'm rather confident that 'other DRM' just means 'serial key', I doubt they did the extra effort (needless) to add another protection. But buy from there, it is better, the game smells of roses and you hear the birds sing when you download ;)

As GamersGate does not want to be seen like a DRM (even it is a light one*, for being easily hacked), they changed the definition of DRM:

That's why for GamersGate a simple serial key is an "Other DRM" (like GOG is a DRM for the Steam fanboyz), to make GamersGate appear less a bad DRM.

Yes, a serial key is a digital right management as tell the words (you don't enter an iron key in a lock of the DVD box), but it is not an enforced one like the true usual DRM which needs a 3rd party compelled hardware (often a distant server, like Securom or Steam) or compelled software (like the hacking drivers of Starforce).

A battle for a bad word.

* You're told needing to enter the GamersGate servers each time you install a game.
GamersGate know their DRM is easily hacked, and knows that many do buy there for that...
