Playing the Southern Whites, December 1918, the Germans have retreated from the Ukraine, and I am a bit at a loss. Am I supposed to march into the Ukraine?

I am not sure if I need their towns, and I don't want to trigger another war.

To answer the first part of your question, check the list of objective cities (F9?). Alongside each name you have the region it's in (i.e. if it's in the Ukraine).

The second part of your question - whether to declare war or not, or rather what to do about the Ukraine - troubled many Red and White commanders for years ;)

I'm reading between the lines that I should attack. I just don't want another Kentucky as in AACW ;)

Legally speaking, I'm not advising anything :D

To be honest I don't know myself in my current game. So far as the southern whites I've secured the Crimean (which I believe should be Russian anyhow, iirc the Crimean was only transferred from Russia to Ukraine after the Revolution), also Donets and a few other cities in that area. I could have taken more, but I was doubly worried, a) would too agressive a move provoke the Ukrainian Nationalists against me, b) would I weaken the Ukrainian Nationalists too much and end up with a Machnovist blob on my flank?

One of my cavalry reconnaissances at least showed me the Ukrainians were engaging the reds which is great help to me...
