New AACW tournament?

I've received several inquiries as to whether I'm organizing a new ACW tournament. The answer is no, but that doesn't preclude anyone else from organizing one or a tournament for any other Ageod game for that matter. This was always just a spontaneous non-sanctioned event.

PS If/when ACW2 is released I'll organize another one.

And I thought he meant the "hoi polloi." :bonk:

Come one, come all.

Hu ok, then as in 'AACW tournament for the plebs' I guess :)

Hoi polloi would be less ambiguous, although it is a bit derogatory, but I'm sure Daxil did not meant anything like that :)

I see your point. No offense meant, Daxil :innocent: . I was referring to the ancient Greek definition which translates to "the many," or in the strictest sense, "the majority."

At least, that is what Boo tells me.

I edited the thread name...

Hoi polloi is indeed a Greek wording, but it is akin to 'unwashed masses', so a bit derogatory... You only understand that it means 'the many' if you knew Greek, when it was used in the past centuries, so it was a mean to mock the masses with few education.

A modern form equivalent would be not far from that (and sorry for the color blinds):

That is two, in my opinion we need at least 8 players to start a tournament. Anything less would bee to pretentious to call an AACW tournament.

I would post this in the multiplayer and AACW forums too if you're serious.

I'm about ready to start up a new campaign... would be interested in a tournament, once 1.16 comes out.

I also would like to sign up to play, but I can't begin until 1.16 comes out, as I'm currently playing PBEM campaigns with the latest beta patch.

Hmmm, I must admit that there are a few points to your reply that ring unclear with me, so please allow me to clarify...

You say that you intend to use the latest patch, which I assume refers to the latest OFFICIAL patch, which is 1.15? Am I mistaken about this? Well, I am currently using the latest BETA patch (1.16rc4a) and though I do desire to compete in a tournament of this fine game (I began playing the game PBEM after the 2009 tourney began), I just don't feel that I can disregard my current opponents midgame. If they each wanted to join, I'd be willing to reload 1.15, but I'm not sure that's likely.

The pace of the tourney doesn't bother me at all, I could provide the turns you require, and I would much like to play... but unless it is a beta match tournament, or is timed with the next official patch, or unless you can hold off a teensy bit longer for a few of us to make honorable arrangements, I will probably have to miss this one also.

Well then, if you're running the game on the 1.16rc4a patch, I can't say no. Count me in too! My email is mortarfire79@yahoo.com

I'm not really a newb at all. I'm on my 3rd and 4th PBEM's as the confeds. I've never played as the union, but I've still got 2 years of near constant play under my belt so I think I'm out. I know someone who might be interested though.

I wouldn't call myself a beginner either but I'll be starting tonight, let's bring on the intermediates!!! Who knows when or if another tourneys coming around, I've been waiting awhile and wasn't sure there was gonna be one for this game again, so if you wanna compete why not just jump onboard?

When i joined this forum was looking for good new player to learn with, after a week someone answered my request. This is my first forum experience, still have to learn do/don'ts. This is the best Civil War game i have ever played in 45+ years of experience in gaming(remember Risk, 6 guys or gals would play all day/night, what a blast!!) so if your a visitor it's well worth the price. Read somewhere 6 months ago, a player wrote "i can't stop playing it" - me niether. Have FUN.
