Hello,
As Austrian in a PBEM game last patch, i took Berlin with the Von Daun's army in December 1758.
The game ask me for two options :
Ransom, (what are the effects next ? Berlin become again prussian ?)
Sack.
What's the best option for you ?
Nota : surprised that the fall of Berlin did not stop the game, like Washington in AACW...

Ransom gives you money and keeps berlin intact. Sack gives you some war supplies IIRC and destroys the depot.
Fall of berlin doesnt end the game because IRL Russians briefly held berlin and it didn't end the war.

Historically Friedrich II lost Berlin to the Russians, yet the war didn't end for several more years. Prussia was at times nothing more than his armies camp.
As for the option: last time I was in this situation, I demanded ransom. It seemed to make sense: Berlin's supply level isn't affected (which is important if you have armies operating in the area). And as Austrian player the money from the ransom is always welcome.

I always used Ransom option ... you can hold Berlin long time and depot here is really good for Russians or Austrians ...

Thank you for your answers.
As i understand, the good question could be : Can i hope to keep Berlin during the next turns ?
- If yes : ransom
- If not : I burn the town.

Then again ransom gives you monies. Austrian can always use moar monies.
