Changing attrition

Hello,
I'm playing a PBEM game, and my opponent and me we think that the standard attrition rule is too easy during the winter.
Is it possible to change the option, to choose "historical attrition" in a pbem allready started ?
If it's not possible with the options, in the main screen of the game, is it possible to change a data in a file, maybe the hst file ? And which data ?
