Maybe I overlooked it but how many elements can come into a unit?
I just wonder why some infantry units now have more companies than others and also were they stop filling.

Another thing regarding the replacement elements, they come in every turn but what if there is nothing to use them on good example is Militia when starting with Prussia, they don't have any(well except 2 very small near the border to Austria) but get 6 every turn, can I accumulate these or are they lost if unused?

The number of elements varies depending on the historical size of the unit in question, from 2 for some cavalry up to 7 or 8 for some of the infantry.

All replacements can be stockpiled for when they are really needed, they don't waste away. You will probably end up with lots of unused replacements, where as some others you will never have enough of. ;)

The Prussian militia replacements will get used, you get lots of militia infantry by event when Sweden declares war. There is also on option costing 1 EP to swap 2 miltia replacements into 1 regular if you so wish.

Thanks, can I see anywhere how many elements a unit can have?
Doesn't seem to be in-game and I also checked the model & unit databases but couldn't find anything that looks like an element value/limit for units or models.

If you put a unit on its own and then put the mouse over it, the tooltip will say something like 42/79. This being the strength of the unit at the moment and its maximum strength. Cohesion is also factored into these figures so if your unit is at full cohesion then the difference between the two is missing elements.
