Messages in the AAR subforum

I just started a new AAR, and now in the place it should be. Only thing is, it does not show up in the ROP forum that there is a new post in the AAR sub-forum.
I always go to the ROP forum, and look if there are any new posts in the subforums (sub-fora?) and then jump there. I guess this is how a lot of people do it... This way they miss new posts in the AAR sub forum (and those other sub forums that have no number of posts behind them).
I imagine this is because the ROP AAR subforum is avtually only a link to the subforum under the "Warroom" AAR subforum, but it would be nivce if you could see from this link that there are new posts there... Can this be changed, or is that just how the forum works?

Short story: That's just how the forum works, I'm afraid.

Long story: Each given forum can have one parent forum (only); the given forum's posts only show up and count as part of the parent's (and grandparent's and...) postings. It is not possible to incorporate a forum's posts into a "cousin" forum's postings. There are several cases hereabouts where I'd like to have a forum be subforum to two seperate forums (AAR forums being some of them), but I haven't seen any way to do that with vBulletin.

"New Posts" covers all parts of the forum that you have access to, so where a particular forum is located in the forum hierarchy doesn't matter when using it.

Incidently, it's the same way I access the forums :)
