Some questions about Game Play & Mechanics

I am playing the 1756 Campaign as the Austrians and enjoying it muchly, good fun it is, but I have a couple of issues (possibly?):

My Swedish Army was bottled up in Strasland (though not actually in the city), and a large force under Braunschweig (after occupying Rostock) has attacked. They battled it out every day from day 5 to day 15, and my valiant Swedes lost very battle but two (they won the penultimate one, and the last was a draw.) By the end they were like a pair of drunks fighting outside a pub. (And both were beginning to run out of ammo.)

This is all well and good, but it seems a bit unfair, in that I lost 33 NM points... Is this an issue or the way it is meant to work?

Also, it is strikes me as very strange, that I have enemy forces attacking my off map boxes (in France & Russia).

Lastly, I have ticked the box in options to allow leader redeployments, and I don't seem to get the option to do so? Is this not working at present, or am I missing something?

You have to check the result of each battle to decide if the NM loss was fair or not... in one battle, you could have received 150 hits and lost a lot of elements resulting in a -10NM for example... but in another one, you could have avoided combat because of retreating and then getting a "draw" because of 0 hits on both sides.
33 NM points looks like a bit too high... but without more details to look at, it is a bit difficult to express an opinion about that... check your battles and post screenshots about them. ;)

This needs closer look, IMO - in my first test campaign (also 56-63, started under 1.01e, patched before the incident in question to 1.01g), the Prussian army attacked my Russians at the map edge, lost, and retreated into Russia.

Then, rather than back out ASAP, the Prussians stayed. Through winter. Through a Russian winter.

Had a second similar incident occur in the Austrian Netherlands, though without quite the same disastrous results - there the Prussian force simple remained indefinitely without accomplishing anything except to neutralize themselves, but at least they didn't all freeze to death.

I surmise from on-map behaviour that Athena knows when to head for winter quarters - but does she know to recall her troops from off-board boxes in winter?

This matter of OMB movement will require a closer scrutiny...it's not that easy to solve, especially for Athena :)

There is yet another bug fixed on retreat path for the upcoming 1.01h patch (in 48 hours or so).

There should be no special problem for Athena to handle move into OMB, except if the transition cost is very huge or even prohibited in winter, this would trap the troops indeed.

Thanks for that!

I've just got on with the game, and have lost Stralsand in the end anyway! Oh woe!

btw - no comment on my redeployment problem - is it an issue, or am I missing something?

Thanks again.
