How to end a war?

So I'm playing as France and I declared war on Russia back in about 1853 (for the Crimean War). I didn't do much fighting because I had to bring my forces back to France because Spain attacked me. I have no more interest in fighting Russia and I've offered them peace about 20 times (as the loser of the war) with generous terms, but they never reply to my offer. It is now 1860 and Russia still refuses to reply to any peace offer even if I offer to transfer colonies to them. I have only fought about 2 battles with them in 7 years, but I can't get them to reply to my offers for peace. It looks like they have stopped fighting the Ottomans, but they won't make peace with me. What do I have to do to get them to reply and accept to my peace offers?

Hi

was the war actually part of the Crimean chain? 1853 sounds late but that is designed to end after 48 months.

if not add this to any of the event files and it'll clear the war ... delete it after its run

SelectFaction = CMN
SelectRegion = $Brandenburg

StartEvent = endwar|1|2|Null|Null|$Brandenburg|NULL

Actions

SelectFaction = RUS
SettleWhitePeace = ALL

EndEvent

that'll force Russia to peace in all its wars

I declared war on Russia when the Ottoman Empire asked for help during the Crimean War, but I barely took part in the war. Does that make a difference? If I actually fight some battles against Russia, will they actually reply to my offers for peace? Does it matter what I offer, because my offers have been pretty good for them?

no, the chain is scripted to generate a peace after 4 years (but clearly its not working so will have another look) regardless of what you do.

not sure why Russia isn't taking your offers, I'd guess the AI simply doesn't feel under any threat. Which is why I suggest run the small script above.
