Reading the manual I noticed there is guidance in the back for playing these two nations. In version 1.03 QF they are not available in the grand campaign. Is they a way to make them playable or is this maybe something for a future version (1.04?). Thanks

Making them playable is a mod to the game. The countries are there, slight changes have to be made to the game to allow you to play them or any other country.

Thanks Jim. Are there instructions somewhere on how to do that?

It must be very simple, I think, I'll try to find out here (although I doubt I can do it alone :bonk :)

Wait a moment and I'll take a look at the files here and try to give you a light. ;)

Ok here you are:

Open the Pride of Nations\VGN\Scripts folder and open the file "Script1850GRC" and look for the nation you want to play (they're listed by their ini, like GER for Germany,CHI is for China in your case...), find the line:
SetFacUnselect = 1

Now change this 1 for 0 and the trick is done. ;)

Please don't forget to report it back if it worked or not, I'm not that sure if this is all that need to be done to make them playable.

Unfortunately that did not add them to the list of playable nations either in my on-going game or when I tried to start a new game.

That's very strange, I don't really understand it well, but I remember reading that this should work...later I'll try to make some tests here so I can try to help you out, maybe someone who understand it better could explain the reason it didnt work.

I have found this in a forum...

2) Find the file named Script1850GRC ans rename it Script
3) Do your change in this text file: by example for Ottomans, search for

SelectFaction = $TUR
MapOffSets = -33990;-4500
ScenVictoryCond = str1850ScenarioVC_TUR
SetCapital = $Constantinople;10
SetMoraleLevels = 75;135
ChangeFacMorale = 85
ChangeRailPool = 0
ChangeRiverPool = 60
SetTRSAssetsInfos = $uni_CMN_Sup_Rail;$uni_CMN_Sup_Riv;$uni_CMN_Sup_Su p1;$uni_CMN_Sup_Mch
SetFacUnselect = 1
AddRulerToFac = $ruler_TUR_Abdulmecid;0

Change the Bold line to SetFacUnselect = 0

4) Launch PON and press F9 key
5) Once the game is loaded, save the game.
6) Quit PON. You have created a new GC scenario with Ottoman playable by player. Now I don't know if the loading screen can support more than 8 Nations...

but it didn't work with me, I think you're gonna need more professional help :mdr:
Kensai could help you I guess.

We had a multiplayer with 22 playable nations, but I don't know how it was done. I also think that Kensai would be the person who would know. You might want to PM him.

Someone had suggested using the console. I tried that again today and had success this time. I opened the console once I had completed giving orders to the nations I currently control ( I am playing hot seat style, all ten GC nations, whew!). It is the ~ key on the key board. I typed "switchfaction SPA" and a message at the top of the screen said something like Spain to switch next turn. I saved at that point and the spain order file was created. I then processed the turn. I then loaded the game again and Spain was listed with the other ten nations. I repeated the same process for China (faction tage CHI). I now have 12 playable nations.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.

Oh so, you've made it! Thank you for sharing here how to add nations to play, I knew I was missing something, but didn't know what. Thank you very much, why don't you right an AAR?

Cheers. :)
