This is my first time thru the grand campaign as Sardinia-Piedmont . The Garabaldi event happened where he landed in Sicily and besieged Palermo. After many months the siege failed when his troops slowly withered away until gone. Does this mean there is no hope for Italian unification? Thanks

Hi No

You get the alternative chain in the mid-1860s (use the unification cards on the regional capitals), or you can go on a military rampage.

These events I did to sort out the problem of Garibaldi getting stuck in Sicily. If you change the name of the first and make it fire, then you maybe able to rescue the Garibaldi events too.

If you use them, can you leave feedback? Be interesting to see how they play out in someone else's game

Hi loki

I am at early May 1865. I would like to use your events to resurrect Garibaldi (even his icon is gone from the map). I'm not sure I know how. How do you change the name of the first and make it fire? Sorry for my ignorance.

yes just add say 1 at the end so the programme will treat it as a new event, and then you may need to adjust the start/end dates as they are designed to make him either succeed or fail in 1860, just amend them to 1865 and you should be ok.

to make it fire, open the consul use ~ and then ? for the syntax, tell it to apply that event and it will work in the next turn

thanks - I made them work but in a very contrived experiment so it'll be interesting to see if they deliver in the context of a real game

My abilities are limited. I can go to the folder that contains the unification events and adjust start/end dates . I'm not sure how to add the events that you referenced in your first reply or make the changes mentioned in your second reply. I would like to use your work but I'm afraid it would take too much of your time to walk me through this. You have been very gracious in your help.
