You need to activate extended claims for the options.

Extended claims works for me only for regions which are adjacent to my national region.

Then you need to upgrade Vietnam until it becomes (non-) national region. Its adjacency to Siam will do the rest. Otherwise you should do it through a script. I think colonial areas that are national territory for 3rd party countries (think Siam, Egypt, etc) can still be regarded as colonies if set accordingly through a script. Perhaps in that case they can be claimed.

Kensai, is Siam in a different category than nations such as Burma, Vietnam, and Tunisia? Because I have been able to annex all three of those countries through the colonization process, over time.

Siam historically was never colonized. This is abstracted in the game by portraying its territory as national region (101% Colonial Pentration). These areas should not be tradeable normally, I guess it can happen when playing with extended claims.

Kensai, I forgot to mention I am playing Austria, (being an Ösi :) ) - as you are most probably the (one and only?) expert for Austria, you sure could tell me if I will ever get to build colonial structures too so I can upgrade my intended colonies?

I don't think you do. You may want to script some in. If you look in the German colonial events there is one that gives Germany the full range of colonial options for around 1880. You could adapt that for Austria - remove all the references to E Africa etc, alter the dates to suit you and of course make it refer to Austria. Should do to get you off the ground.

re - Siam, as above, its been treated the same way as Egypt, so you can't make it a colony and you can't claim provinces off it. I guess this is historically realistic but may fail to reflect a European power taking de facto control, as say Britian did in Egypt.

:( Thanks loki, but I am still not sure I should try myself in changing scripts. In this case I will for now stick to the historical fact that Austria never had any colonies. If I do change my mind I will come crying for help, most probably :P

Q-Kee, try this:

Code: Select all

SelectFaction = $CMN
StartEvent = Austrian Colonial Actions|1|2|Alternate Reality Austrian Colonial Actions|Event-Img_CMN_GeographicConference1876|$Oesterreich|NULL
Actions
SelectFaction =$AUS
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdExploreParty;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdNatExpedition;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdGeoExpedition;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdAnthroExpedition;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdProspection;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdProsecute;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdPacify;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdRetaliate;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdOutpost;2
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdGunboatDiplomacy;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdNavalDemo;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdChiefBribing;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdChiefTreaty;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdChiefTerritory;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdMissionary;2
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdMerchants;2
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdTradepost;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdRoad;2
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdTelegraph;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdSchool;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdImmigrants;2
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdProtectorate;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdColony;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdStake;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdCustoms;1
  ChgRgnDecisionFP = $rgdRail;1
EndEvent

Try this code. Got it (and adapted it) from here. Beware: historically Austria was not at all interested in colonial endeavors in the late 19th century. Don't overdo it!

Thanks (once again)! I will try that. I have, as loki suggested, already taken a snippet from GER events and put it into mine and deactivated historical SOI, but I haven't had time to play more than 2 rounds since so no idea whether it worked.

I doing war against Persia, and i endured wars to cut thiers terirory off , to be able to annex them later, but constant uprisings,after i just crush one, it is automaticaly created new, get "little" annoing.
Yes, it is great for gaining exps for units/leaders (especialy if you doing them 10x+ more causalties nearly every time), now just building warscore to get them (maby it will be 2 more wars, depending on my patience and if i didnt overlooked anything).
And this event will just help my nerves.

Any idea how that event should look like ?

For exemple : with French I absorbe british, I can have the futur british tank? the Canadien troop ? (on my pool for recruit, the present and futur pool?)

No, you keep only what they have on map if you decided so, but no future units or leaders

I can understand engine limitations, but it will be great if we can "absorb" some reginal/special type of troops - like if we annex nepal, we get ghurka units, dosnt matter which state annexed it.
No need to get special canada troops, if you annex brits, you will simply put your state units there (asuming you can build units in canada as say, france), but i think some coresponding increase in max posible numbers of buildable units should happen. After all, you have more territory to defend, and get troops from.

It is doable, I think, but you need to adopt the specialized colonial subfactions for said nations.

So, one think to be exited about for PON2 (or even PON Gold :thumbsup :) , if we get them.
