Advices for an strong Ottoman Empire

I'm playing right now with the Ottomans. The Ottoman Empire have now (in early 1867) one of the strongest armies in the world, a self-reliant economy and it's the first in the technology race. Since I've the colonies almost completely developed, I'm wondering what will be the next step.

I was thinking in Egypt. I've no real interest in that place, neither economic or prestige. But I don't want to have the british as neighbours there and unite the country with Libya could be fine. I can annex Egypt? If I don't do that the British will do?

In the game Piamonte and Prussia failed to achieve their unifications. I've got defensive treaties with Britain and France, but the russians and austrians are very strong. Some advices? at this stage with almost everything done, the only thing I'm waiting for is the historical war against Russia in the 1870's.

I do not think you can annex Egypt (unless you are playing with extended claims or allow them just for this war), but I can always script for you a neutral "ending" if you provide some screenshots of the situation when you want to do peace. :)

Things can include Egypt not being annexed but considered a puppet (I could abstract this with a forced alliance between Egypt and the Ottomans) as well as a multi-year event that subtracts funds from Egypt and gives them to the Ottos, if you cannot do this arrangement through the diplomacy screen.

I would personally play somehow "historical", meaning no crazy annexations in this era and try to end the game at a better state than it happened historically. In real life, by 1920 the Ottoman Empire was at its last breath... you could try a colonial war in Sudan or a regional war in Caucasus, but this will take you against the Brits and Russians respectively. Good luck!

Thanks for this answer so quick! ;) I've got not really interest in Egypt. I just want to avoid that the British annex it and I don't know if the game have this event implemented.

It's a nice idea to have a diplomatic approach. I can improve relations to make a defense agreement and use my troops to keep the order. For improve their economy, the only thing I can do it's to build railroad for them. I don't know what I can do more to help them.

Because the ottomans have no claims, my first idea was to help the italians and germans to their unifications against Austria. But I've been disappointed because they haven't declared the war, only Piamonte have annexed the Papal States recently without fight. Also my other idea was to defeat Austria and Russia and force them to liberate countries. Hungary from Austria and for the russians Ukraine and Georgia to achieve security for the country.

Look at Loki100's AAR, for what happens when you "liberate" a country (he freed Scotland from the British). It apparently only gives them the capital region (not the whole country), and some other problems (like no army, and no funds).

This game have some things to fix. In my game I've seen a few:

-There's no unifications, Piamonte only have annexed the Papal State by event.

-My shipbuildings needs electronic parts in 1865, so it doesn't work. Because it's haven't been discovered yet !

-The british, french and italians doesn't fight very well in the crimean war. My war was less long than a year. They tried to assault Kars three times with great losses and then give up.

But there are some good news... I'm right now in 1868 and Austria declares me the war! My (horrible) skills will be tested and my army too. I'll update soon the situation with screens. This match is starting to be interesting

Edit:
I've started an AAR with this situation, this is the link: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?34070-The-fate-of-an-empire-a-story-of-a-different-Ottoman-Empire

Also this is the problem with the shipyard I told before:

After some technology (I think that was something about reinforced concrete, but I'm not sure) this building needs something than cannot be made: electronic parts and It's completely useless.
