Ending third-party wars

Is there any way to force third party belligerents to the peace table?

I've brought my British game up to 1900 and there are several foreign wars that simply will not end. Russia suddenly declared war on the Ottomans something like 10 game years ago, and quickly overran them, but on the war wages, though the Grande Porte controls not a wisp of land anymore. I would very much like the two to stop it, as I have some coal mines in Anatolia I would very much like to get back into production. I've also got Transvaal and the Orange Free State locked in perpetual struggle (again, over ten long years), which I am assuming is why the Boer War has yet to occur.

Unfortunately there is no auto war end routine, so you do get these small wars just dragging on.

I'd suggest ending them by script, my approach has been every 2 game years to review and end all these, not least, as you say, they stop other events firing.

A simple script you can adapt is in this thread

Thanks Loki. I've been able to script a Russian/Ottoman peace, but I'm not sure what the faction tag is for he South African Republic. Where can I find it?

I think its SAF - that is described as an organised minor in Africa (which sounds right). The list of tags is in the folder gamedata/factions - but you do need sometimes to do a bit of guessing as to which is which
