So I am playing the 1.04 v2 patch and my Prussian troops even though activated and in Assault mode won't assault and capture enemy cities.

Anything that might prevent my troops from assaulting the city?

Worth double checking, have you set them in the red-red stance, anything less and they tend not to. Regard it as a really deliberate order rather just a normal clash on the open battlefield.

Beyond that - low organisation or a perception the defenders are too strong will abort an attack even if you've ordered it.

There is also a problem/bug that if troops of a third nation are in the province, this seems to stop assaults (I found this in my war with Austria when there were Prussian units wandering around Austria looking for British to fight). Only fix to this is to do a quick script to make them go away.

This is a known issue with the 1.4 RC2 patch. Its been brought up i the thread on the patch by several other players.
