Is it possible to recruit destroyed Gurkhas, etc, in 1880 scenario?

I am now in 1888, as the British. Britain starts out with one regiment of highlanders, about 5 one element Gurkha units, a number of colonial brigades. There is no way to recruit more, even at the start of the scenario.
I had an elite force containing these units, which conquered the Sudan for me, among other exploits. Yet in my latest war with the Ottomans, I foolishly invaded Cyprus without scouting, and discovered a huge army in the city there. The next turn, they came out of the city, and destroyed my elites as they were trying to reembark.
If you get sloppy in this game, that is what can happen.
Very sad, and I rivaled Burnside as a commander on this one. I was bitterly disappointed to find that there is no way to replace the destroyed units in the recruiting screen, which I have looked at every possible way.
Any ideas?

I believe it is because the force pool of those units was forgotten in the original setup of 1880, so when lost they never come back (as there is no force pool). The only way to solve this is to run a script to add them back.
I take note of the issue for further 1880 fixing

Thank you for the explanation, and I will be very grateful when you are able to do the fix. The highlanders and Gurkhas add so much color to the game, and are magnificent troops besides, and you do need the colonial troops for the many colonial wars and rebellions.

vaalen, if you help me find the correct model of these two units I will prepare the script for you. If all goes well, the turn after you run it you will be able to recruit again Highlanders and Ghurkas. I love them too, in our MP game they were quite a force in the mid 1860s.

Kensai,
thank you, and I would like to help you find the correct model. Please forgive my ignorance, but where would I look for them?

PhilThib, thank you for adding them to the list. But I have also found there is no force pool for the black colonial troops the British are able to recruit in the main scenario, or for Canadian troops, so perhaps they could be added as well?

Yes, a whole lot is missing...I noticed that when we started our "World in Conflict 1880" campaign....in fact, most special troops which are outside of the common standard force pool are missing...worse, for some nations in 1880, you have 4 to 10 times the force pool because of absorbed subnationationalities... we had to run a script to get the Germans rid of some 64 extra minor corps (same for Austria or Russia)... it's not as easy to find out and this is due to the fact that pool upgrades linked to tech seem to work well and consistently only in the GC and not in late start campaigns.

You should look in the GameData folder, subfolders
Units and
Models.

Kensai, I was able to find the the correct Ghurkas and Highlanders in the Units subfolders. However, I could not find them in the Models subfolders. The file names in the models subfolder are less clear. My computer skills are limited, unfortunately.
I think I will just have to wait until Ageod can find the time to patch it. I appreciate your offer very much, and wish I was better able to respond to it.

I really have little time to research it myself, these days. Have you tried to confront the "Includes" folders to see the starting force pools of each nation? Perhaps you could find there the name of the unit class, the model indeed might not be needed.

Thanks for the tip! I will look there.
