Where is this global empire?!

Hello.
It's 1860 and I just failed a mission to have the world's largest empire (playing as Britain). But I can't see how this is possible, unless Russia has a greater land area than India, Canada, Australia and all the others colonies put together, and I'm pretty sure this is not the case. Any explanation theories?

have in all canada + australia colonies ? i think protectorates and less dont count.

Most of them are I think, plus Russia hasn't yet colonized most of Siberia.

Which patch? If 1.03c, then a lot of your regions have turned "non-national" and may not count as part of your colonial empire.
PS - You need to have the largest empire for 8 of the 10 years. It is possible that you missed 3 years some how.

I have checked another thread and it appears that the conditions to win this mission are that you have the largest colonial empire in the world APART FROM Great Britain. This is the same if you are being GB, thus rendering the mission impossible. Never mind, I don't imagine that I shall lose as a result.
