Unbelievable Austrian Army

This single army is larger than all my armies combined.
A power of 28,529, led by 3x3 star and 4x2 star generals, it needs a command of 1,145 points, but shows a command of just 49 points, yet somehow only has a 23% penalty. How come?
Is this a normal size for the Great Powers? (I hope not!).

Something weird is happening with your game. The 49 CPs given is probably correct (as extra generals don't give more CPs, but their special abilities do - if you have 2 3 star generals, you only get 49ish CPs, even though both give that amount). The weirdness is the absolute power of the stack, and the CP needed. The 23% is not right either. To me your screenshot is a bit fuzzy for me, what year is it?

The 23% is a cap on AI penalty on some settings to compensate for its lack of human cleverness.

It's 1888 Jim.

Well Sir Garnet, the AI is a lot smarter than me then, I thought I was doing okay with Armies of 2,000 power.....
This is a stack of doom by any standard. I've got 0% chance of ever beating one like that.

I have had a lot of weird stuff though. A British and a French unit in Ethiopia, wherever they went they took control of the province city, but neither were at war with her. Ethiopia is now a Russian colony with a French city stuck in the middle, as well as a city controlled by an local tribal nation. The Khyber Pass in Afghanistan is still a British city.
My ships lose almost 50% cohesion on a 10 day trip and I've spent almost the entire game short of coal. (The amount available above is rare), although I've now finally built/ordered almost every possible coal mine Russia can, even the ones on difficult terrain that cost over 5,000 capital.
I've never been able to send immigrants outside of Siberia and until a few turns ago I spent a good number of years unable to play any colonial cards that involved structures such as Trade Posts, Missionaries etc.
All Siberian colonies are still colonies with just 28 years left for the game to run, and all of these provinces now have a majority Russian pop. I've never seen a colonial edict/act appear in the colonial screen either- I can see the box where they should sit though.

well, taht big stacks realy fast suck dry any region without supply depont in same area, so they will have very big attrition problems figting anywhere. I think that should be some ai limit to prevent creating these stack of doom for everyone (and even only mainitance to that big numbers can be realy high). After all thsi single stack is bigger than my whole russian army (well, maby not whole, but surely bigger tham all my main armys combined).

It's a bit of a killer army isn't it Czert2!
I'm being very nice to them. :) :)

HaHa!

It's grown a little bit more......

It now has a power of just under 39,000 and consists of a mere 248 units.
Just looking at it slows my PC down. I'm SO glad they are my ally. :)

@Kensai,
The army has 2,369,734 Men, 164,188 Horses and 9,408 Cannon. Pah! I'm going to make one as well. ;)
I hope they are trustworthy allies.....

Over 2.000.000 men in a field army? :blink:

The greatest army known to mankind, indeed!! - it even surpasses the "faithful" descriptions of the persian armies made by greek historians... :mdr:

Seems like the anti-stack of doom pieces of code are not working that well after all!

Send me your current turn (HST and TRN) when I get time I'll see why the stack don't break into smaller parts... The game is vanilla 1.03c right?

Hi Pocus,
You can relax, it's the 1.03 version, It's probably Prussia that cannot relax :)
I'd love a script added to the 'CleanupLoyalty' that can clear up illegal city ownership though!

@Czert2,
If I am waiting for that codeword then I can relax as well.
I'll let everyone know if it heads off anywhere, it could be fun to watch, unless it goes directly east of course.... :)
