If I declare war on the Ashanti, will I be able to make the Gold Coast a protectorate as a peace offer (I am after the gold)?

I noticed there has been some activity on this forum since I posted this thread, by members who might know the answer.

No, but you can make the region a protectorate and then a colony as part of the normal colonisation process.
