What Changes SOI in game?

The manual says "The nice thing about SOI is that it can be traded, reduced, or modified by events and diplomacy (normal diplomacy or as part of a Crisis resolution), so it’s never set in stone, as it takes into account the game’s dynamics."

One specific is that SOI is not changed but PP received are halved if not a Protectorate or better.

The manual does say strong economic activity may change SOIs, which suggests that even negative SOI areas that are populous and resource rich could with effort develop and improve to positive SOI.

Any input on seeing (or not seeing) SOI level changes for various reasons?

Thanks!

Thank you for the response. Do you mean the biggest/most missions assigned by the game get bonuses in SOI in particular areas (like where that mission item is made/grown)?

He means the missionary building. I have also seen the random message stating that "due to your positive influence, your SOI has increased - which means your maximum SOI". This appears to be a random check that happens each turn for each province.

For your actual SOI, the better your CP and the development, the better your SOI appears. So take actions to increase both, and your SOI should increase.

What Jim says, both CP and MC if high enough have a chance to up a bit the SOI (3 acronyms in same sentence, eeerk)
