It can rarely happen if you are using Vista/Seven and for some reasons, the 'DirectX 9 legacy support' went wrong somewhere. Your best bet is to download the DLL directly from a safe website (just type its name) and put it alongside PON.EXE. Repeat for extra missing DLLs.

I'm already totally lost. What are you saying I should do to fix it? I don't even know what a DLL is : /

d3dx9_31.dll is a file that is part of directx 9, and suposedly should be in your windows instalation. Sometimes latest windows versions for one reason or other lack or lost some old files (current directx is, AFAIK, 11 ?).

What Pocus sugests is that you search for this particular file in the internet and download it. Personally, I think that is not safe, many sites that provide such files for download are in reality hack sites and you could easily get a virus.

The easiest and safe way is simply to (re)install directx 9.0c from microsoft itself: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Even if you have windows 7, do not worry, download directx installer and install it, following the instructions as you go; it will not create any problems for windows and your game problem will surely be solved.
