British Indian troops being upgraded to new troops with different Faction Tag

I am in 1873 and my Indian troops have been upgraded via replacement chits, but for some reason their faction tag has now changed from IND to GIN, for which I cannot supply any replacements as they are not on the f3 screen. I think this may have been discussed before, but I'm hoping for possibly a short-term scripting solution? Possibly an event to incorporate GIN into the British repleacements screen. Thanks.

I don't know that there is a simple fix. I suspect that what appears in the F3 screen comes from what you can recruit.
I think you are running into several problems.
i) regional units don't upgrade with tech
ii) when the tag change occurs it changes the tag in the alias - so once i is fixed the upgrade will change the unit to the new type but with the old tag which doesn't exist.
I suspect the underlying problem is the tag change comes from tech upgrades.
This means that the artillery, infantry, and cavalry, change at different times, as they upgrade from different techs.
It also leaves the IND replacements as useless as there is no conversion of them to GBR for the artillery, or GIN for the cavalry and infantry.

Is there no script I can plug-in to create GIN as a subfaction of GBR in an ongoing game? That would be enough for me, just the ability to replace the GIN units.

If this is a code issue, I seriously doubt it. We are all eager here to for v1.03 or v1.1, whatever fixes more issues here!

(time to start with a new nation, perhaps? France?!)

Well I tried firing the Last Mughal Emporer event, it fired and annexed Mughistan but no GIN units appear on the f3 screen. It's weird though, GIN units appear on the f3 screen on our MP game, and that was started with an earlier patch, so perhaps this issue has arisen in a patch and wasn't a problem with the original or 1.1 verson? Anyway, I'm going back on my Prussian game and hoping the unification events all fire fine

Sagjii, In my British game started with 1.02, the regional units, including the Scottish and Indian troops, did upgrade with tech, though it took them a lot longer than the regular British troops. Making sure that they all have some replacements seemed to help. I have not idea what is happening to Glenn Bob's Indian troops, though.

Long standing problem with Indian upgrading to GIN........
Yes, you need replacements in place for them to upgrade, including Scottish and Indian.

What year are you in? I'm in 1873, and they have upgraded a heck of a lot, I have been investing in every single tech available since about 1856/7. If you click on the elements of your Indian Infrantry does it says IND or GIN, because that is the issue here, GIN doesn't appears as a sub-faction on my replacements screen, does it on yours?

I am in 1862. Indian infantry still says IND. I have not yet seen GIN, anywhere. One problem I have noticed is this - In the middle of the Sepoy mutiny, 1857, I lost the ability to replace Indian cavalry losses. I could still replace infantry and artillery, but never cavalry. But they still say IND.

The elements you have built upgrade, but the units don't. If you go to the unit build screen and compare British and other units element details. You will find the regional units still show the 1840 stats, and if you build them they will start with 1840 stats but will quickly upgrade to the latest. British units will show the latest stats and when built won't need to upgrade.

The cavalry, artillery and infantry all upgrade from different techs. Once you get the cavalry tech I would expect the on map units to upgrade and become GIN while the ones in the build pool remain IND. From memory the cavalry tech is earlier than the infantry one.

Sagji, thank you for clarifying that. You are correct, the regional units in the build screen do not upgrade, but they will upgrade after they have been built. I must not have that cavalry tech yet, because my on map units still say IND.
