The attachment Germans - California.jpg is no longer available

I think this a bug, but one never knows. As far as I can tell there is no California Republic. The provinces of California all belong to the United States or the Apache. Is there someway to find if there is a California Republic somewhere else on the map?

the problem has been developed as follows:

the event character of PON is operating with alternative states as any outcome of alternative history.

the alternative states have a certain lifespan hardcoded during which they unfortunately appear in the diplomatic menu.

you will have Republics of Texas, Utah state, Baja California (Mexican), Southern German Confederation and so on, too.

last time i saw it, that AI was involved in this silly diplomacy, was a player reporting that the South German Confederation would be offer him deals AFTER Prussia had been united....

however,

NO it does not exist independently on the map

YES it is a BUG, unpleasant one.

But for my part it needs only "a send diplomats option" that the AI and the player have to establish diplomatic contact first, before having treaties around. Like in old imperialism, a simply pretest for ambassadors in non existing states should prevent that kind of problem...

maybe they have a wishlist for us

Just look at it as if California separartists are trying to gain foreign support for an independent California.
