Help to edit a save

In first place I have to say that I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post. I hesitated to write in the mods subforum, but since I don´t want anything really ambitious I'll put it here.

I would like to know how I can edit the save of a game already started and change some “simple” parameters, such as breaking the alliance between two countries or even make them be at war.

I must say that I have no experience changing game saves, so I don’t even know if is possible to do what I want, and if so, I don´t know whether to change the file .hst or the .trn.

I opened both (a backup really) but I couldn´t find the line that say that Austria and Prussia are allies. And I would like to change that.

I researched a bit by the agewiki, for example in this link

http://www.ageod.net/agewiki/ChgFacRelationships

But I need simpler and more detailed instructions, just like for a child of 8 years. :mdr:

So I would be very grateful to anyone that can indicate me where and how change those settings in my save game.

Saludos! ;)

If this is possible, then perhaps one of my Knights will know.
Gentlemen...?

at the queens order (or better request via PM), i can give you only my best shot...

frankly, i never change the treaties.

i once changed the leaders and the leaders stats IN-GAME (backup of a running game) and before it worked properly i had to change it in both files.
otherwise it had ever re-wrote the original leader into the next turn.

as you already figured out, the relations are quite simple to be modified.
in one of the developers-diaries there was a explicit example, if i recall it right.

maybe the "ID" in question for changes for the treaties itself can be derived from the official diplomatic DB-misc for the 1850s Grand Campaign

http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=24047

i remember some of the treaties names were described there with a prefix of "di"-name to create the desired treaty between nations, including the nations tags.
so, if you have time to understand this mechanism in the original start file, you shall be able to mod it in game.

however, creating an event with the nations tags and treaty attached to the event, might be faster.
But i havent use the console for two months now... :(

at VGN_1850_RelationsMatrix

you find it as follows i.e.:

AddDiploItem RUS|$diDefensiveTreaty|1848/01/01

the list of the single diplomatic actions name itself, you will find in

VGN_DB_Diplomacy/Agendas

******************

for relations as you said above, it is stated with i.e.:

SetFacRelationships CHI|5

or written as command:

ChgFacRelationships = CHI|5

EDIT: thus maybe you have to add something like

AddDiploItem = RUS|$diDefensiveTreaty|1848/01/01
