Reading the Research Tree

In the Academy of Sciences (F7) and clicking on the various techs, sometimes you can go forward and reach the future of technologies and ideas in order to have an understanding of what's coming and when, and invest accordingly. You can even go backwards in some of the future techs to see the confluence of two or more previous ones, that otherwise cannot be seen since they weren't available since the beginning.
However, there is a small number of technologies that is not reachable at the moment (late 1850s), so I guess you can only see their branch once you discover or invent the root. For example, "Stormtroopers", I can't seem to reach them even if I try, nor do I know what I have to invent to get there faster.
Last, can anyone tell me in which files are the texts of the various techs stored? (the explanations, not their game effects)

"can anyone tell me in which files are the texts of the various techs stored?"
\Pride of Nations\VGN\Settings\LocalStrings_VGN.csv
They all begin with "RI_text_" starting after line 14774.

I believe that is deliberate and WAD. In the real world, one cannot know of technologies that are too far in the future.
So in the 1930s, for example, "let's hurry up and invent the computer, so then we can invent the home computer, and then the Internet, so that we can finally achieve Facebook!"

Well, yes and no. You can still see technologies that appear even beyond 1910 (tanks, dreadnoughts, etc) as long as they trace their lineage back to a seed technology that is researched back to the early stages of the game.
So probably I'll have to wait for the first tech that starts this branch. No problem.

You will have to wait to 1870 to be able to see it.
The precursors are Trench Systems (1910), and Barbed Wire (1870).

While we're at it, is it possible to be more clear on the effects and bonuses?
adds modifiers to your nation is a little dull, especially if were talking about suez canal as germany, which will never fire the event.
adds a structure/unit to force pool is nice, but you never know if one has been upgraded or a completely new one appeared or even if one has just been tiny bit changed. please make it more clear. thanks

well, tourism does not fire Neuschwanstein for getting Japanese (just a stereotype, no insult intended) visitors with videocams, so why should Suez trigger the card for Germany either.
its not only the text, there is need for sub-windows with scrollbars. also in the diplomatic ledger
