This game reminds me of Crown of Glory
Is it the same or a derivitive of the former?

Different era, different scale, different scope, different combat system, different diplomatic system, different economic system, different technology system, different political system.
Other than managing a Power, they bare as much resemblance to each other as either does to, say Civ III or IV.
They're both played on computers though.

hehe...
but the question is NOT that way off:
i remember that AGEOD worked with MATRIX Games together regarding the BoA game, or not.
matrix is responsible for Crown of Glory....
Anyway, glad that PON does not use hexagon based maps

I think both PoN and CoG-EE are both brilliant games but completely different in design philosophies and execution. The only things that they really have in common are that both are turn-based, involve control of one nation and use regions for strategic movement instead of hexes. They share these attributes with many other games so the idea that either might be "the same" or "derivitive" indicates that the OP has not even casually examined the descriptive copy of one or the other. Maybe both.

@ Freeboy
Apologies if I sounded snotty, yesterday was not a particularly good day.
Both PoN and CoG-EE fill their respective niche's quite nicely in my subjective opinion. I cannot comment on AGEOD's Napoleon's Campaigns one way or the other but I believe, based on the respective web sites, that it and PoN share the same basic engine.
PoN can certainly eat up hours but so can CoG-EE.
