I am France, at war with Belgium. I have four stacks in Wallonia. I can merge some of these stacks, but not all of them . When I try to merge some stacks, no merger takes place, and I get a message of four days travel, even though I am not moving to another area.

Also two of the stacks in Wallonia, if I click on them, they show buttons for three stacks, but one of the stacks is actually in Luxembourg, and the buttons for two of the stacks in Wallonia do not show.

Also, I have large armies with plenty of siege artillery in Wallonia, the siege symbol is there, but nothing happens in the siege, and the siege does not show up in any of the messages, though I look at all of them.

This makes no sense. Can anyone help?

well, for this kind of graphical overlay between provinces i have seen it a lot of times in OSCAR.

including fields for plantation in the neighbor province, un-clickable Baltimore city field, Norfolk somewhere in the sea, manned forts with corps and unable to click on them...

actually this is the only occasion i do work with F3 and F11


for sieges, i am curious:

do you dont get a message or does just nothing happen.
for the latter one, i have described it plenty of times. even if you inflict hits AI replenishes forces larger than 20 combat points close to instantly.
its for larger countries to seize all provinces, thus breaking national moral of the foe, otherwise sieges are the only reason in my games, why ACW takes 5 years... need to starve them even with all disposal corps, engineers and guns participating in the siege.

for merging stacks:

do you drag and drop or do you merge the "riders" with the unit names in the forces list of the province.
if the latter one, the problem is there from the beginning. sometimes you cant merge with the last rider, game considers it as order to move and sets a silly path.
drag and drop of unit icons normally does the job.

For sieges, this is what happened.

I moved some troops into Wallonia, and drove the Belgians out. I Next turn, I got siege messages. But the message always was that nothing happened in the siege. This did not concern me at the time, as I had very little siege artillery in the province.

A couple turns later, I besieged Luxembourg.The siege worked normally. Luxembourg had a tiny garrison. (for some reason the original garrison kept attacking my greatly superior army, and was wiped out piecemeal, Could be another bug)I got messages of a breach. But I stopped getting siege messages from Wallonia.

I stormed the fortress at Luxembourg, no problem. But even though I had plenty of siege artillery in Wallonia, no siege messages, and nothing happened, for several turns it has been like that.

For merging stacks, I have tried both methods. Drag and drop works for some stacks, but not for others. The stacks it does not work for are on a 4 day journey to somewhere.

I have played this game a lot, and never seen anything like this. This is version oscar.

yeap, this is the same i reported for nearly three month now.

first, every time AI will try to break out up to three times and then dig in completely. have seen it numberless times.
an educated guess, since luxemburg will not have larger forces, the try with the units in town and even fortress units count in this attack.

second, i got even sieges with over 50 breaches and nothing changed in the inflicted hits, nor in combat power.
i even reported that units will still have over 200 for entrenchment and 75 for city as defense bonus. even when the ACW event just triggered they had tremendous bonuses.
this current game i got sick from losses in ratio of 6:1, just placed a corps outside of town and waited until they surrendered.

the siege system is not to be compared to AACW where more guns meant more progress, a pity, thus all unit bonuses are close to worthless.

only thing what is new to me, that you say the messages stopped and siege went on.
(i even got messages to besiege a plantation without a force in ight )

PS: could be worse, Nez Perce are besieging Vancouver and there is not even a force in town...
