Word has it that the next beta patch probably won't be released before Monday at the earliest.

We are currently testing the last fixes recently introduced. The beta patch will be, most probably, released on Monday. Sorry for the "bad news".
But you will be happy when you read all the new changelog.

And just when I have a four day weekend.

Oh, well, still great to hear of things being done!
What a great game!

Can't wait for the new patch. Here in NY we are on "Hurricane watch" and until we lose power PON a great game to play!

Just make sure to do what you need to do to keep safe while Irene is in the neighborhood

Thanks for your concern. Recently visited your great city of Oslo, 2 weeks before the tragedy. So sorry, for your country's loss!

I am hoping that, among other goodies, events to free more than the capital region of a liberated country will be in the patch, as I've put my France game on hold until it can end the war with a meaningful peace treaty.

No new beta patch by Monday, either.
Please be patient a while longer.
The longer the wait, the nearer it's "great".

It is better to have a more complete patch. But I was really looking forward to today! Waiting can be so hard.

may i start a new game to play this weekend or should i wait for the upcoming beta patch ?....anyone to tell me when it might be ready....

its ready when its done...
rumors spread "j" it is the basis for the first public patch, so certainly the last beta in the series .01
they announced major changes in diplomacy, working colonial system, revised economy (especially a obstacle for the early autarky) and a longer list of minor hotfixes...
it is really worth to wait!
unless you want to exploit all old bugs in favor of your economy...
...be patient

ok

We have moved several internal beta RC patches beyond j.
The latest RC patch shows promise, but it's too soon to say yet whether it will be released into the wild in the near future.
In other words, there may still be more internal beta RC patches!
Yes, it's ready when it's ready.

no doubt in that, we do know your qualities...
with my post i did mean the fact, that you are leaving the BETA-phase for 1.01 (1.02 was only communicated as such one internally, or not)
and certainly they will offer an official patch on the next level.
you do know as well as i, that most companies are not offering that many "public-beta-steps" between the official releases, most give you only step 1.02, 1.03,...1.16 (RC1, RC2) and so on.
so, of course its not an end of beta patches, but a certain milestone reached (in terms of project management)

Indeed, we are (we think!) nearing the end of the 1.01*PB series, and hope to release the next "official" 1.02 patch ASAP.
And, yes, most likely there will be (many) more beta and official patches (long) after that.
