Wanna have a stable game - do this

Start a fresh game

1)Alter casus belli option to 21 Diplomats, as mentioned in other threads.

Leads to no more wild wars between the mayor and important countries.

Leads to none but the scripted wars and the most ctd happen, cause the script crashes with the reality, that this or that country is occupied by now.
Austria owns most Italy, Germany occupies Belgium and so on - you know all that.
In fact there is no reason, not for player, nor Ai to come to peace terms with the beaten country again, since one can exploit the victim totally and indefinitely.
The most of the rare clashes of that time are anyway scripted by data.

2) To relax your nervs alter the value for General dies of.... to anything else but 1, but only after the initial round to get the plus generals.

Leads to no more generals die and are created.

There is rumour, that the number will rise when the armies grow bigger, but at least till 1860 play with the original generals to get rid of the frustration to see them die like flies. Then check again for a while whether the situation gets better or worse by switching back to the value 1.

The execution phase of the game runs much faster, and runs with no more ctds at the end of the script addition at the very end, that is responsible for all this balagan. I had not a single crash playing one year time and a fast running through the execution phases.

The game is in the beginning somewhat more boring or less exiting, but for the many building style players that could be a benediction.

Sounds good!

Would you be so kind as to post the specific files for these fixes?

Thanks :)

Steam - if you got it from there
Steam Apps
Pride of nations

VGN
Settings
GameLogic.opt
Command and Leaders
IDRDeathBySickness anything but 1

I even set
IDR CommandMaximaRank1 from 1 to 4, some more units a 1 Star General may lead

----

VGN
Game Data
Diplomacy
40-Forge CasusBelli.dpl
Diplomat Cost alter 5 to 21

---

Upload 1.01g first, you have to alter any data again after a new patch.

I play much more fluently now for 3 years, but crashes still happen once in a while, less game gata crashes, but total unexplained sudden CTDs after execution phase. So dont forget to save here and then and to delete the older saves, since they need a lot memory.
And tell about your experience. HF

hey Will

Hi fellow Tennesseans! :wavey:

Wish i felt confident enough to make changes like these. I don't have any degrees in programming though. Hopefully the upcoming patch will fix a lot of issues folks are having.

Seems that whatever one does it turns out at least very questionable after a few years running time.
If you play Vanilla the landscape of Europa is no more recognizable. S-P, Belgium, Netherlands, Schweden all occupied by some bigger neighbours.

The AI never seems to build up an army, why I have no clue. So if you play any european country, AI will never be able to compeet with you, after 1855 or so.

Britain is either hanging around 50% the winning score all the time or it advances to 100%, what means game over, in very fast steps. My last try they had 65% in 1854 already.

Most of the real wars that happened that time are scripted, what is very nice, so there would be no need for warmongering anyway, only that the wars are not easy to perform. The Crimea war of 54 seems simply not really to take place. No troops sent, at least not in my game.

Last game I got no telecommunication option, so my country will not grow in the long run. So it is this thistime and that thattime and since one needs days and hours realtime to see 5 years playtime running it is frustrating and tempting together.

The claim of the game is too high, yet. So they work hard to improve. Every week a new patch of some sort. That is great, very unusual, and I fear not to maintain in the future. We will see.

This assessment would be accurate if applied to most other software developers. However, AGEOD (the actual game developers), are well known for maintaining games well into the future, quite often several years.

they should rename the game 'crash of the nations'
I'm glad that ageod works in game development. Imagine what could happen if dev work in an hospital !

Please get the latest patch (1.01h) before making those kind of comments. Thanks.
