I want to take troops there and it says my transports can't enter the terrain.

Select your ground troops and drag them onto Hawaii. If you want to go into their harbor you need a treaty (supply I think).

I tried the first. It said my troops couldn't get there. No path.

1. Load troops onto transports in a friendly port.
2. Move fleet to sea area which contains or is adjacent to Hawaii.
3. Select troops (Use control key for more than one unit), drag them onto land.

Voila!

Ok, I'll try that. I figured you would pull the fleet to the actual region since most of the region is actually water and not land, but I'll do adjacent.

Well, it only works to move to the region if you own the port.
Otherwise, the natives tend to be a bit spotty about that kind of thing...

Hawaii doesn't actually have a port at the start of the game. If you want one, you have to build it.

But the quickest way of getting troops there is to drag the fleet unit (with troops loaded) to the adjacent sea area, click the 'Distant Unload' order button then click on Hawaii. That way they'll disembark the same turn they arrive instead of having to wait for the next.
