Tell me also if the game performance is improved. On my PCs the game now runs 20-25% faster and smoother.

Calvinus can you check a few things for me with this save.
Are you able to move the Russian fleets out of harbour? I am not.
Can you go down the Russian line from Riga down to the caucauses and select each and every unit. Some take 5 seconds to load up, others are instantaneous. It was not doing this before, its how it was back in patch c for me.
I was not able to place any diplomats prior to this save. All my diplomats had been removed from the various countries they were assigned to and it looked like no diplomats were assigned to any country bar about 4 for all countries diplomats.
Check the Austrian and Turkish units that appear out of supply and also those behind my lines that are not out of supply on the Russian front, it doesnt look right to me but that could be an turn issue, please let me know if it works after a turn or not.
Thanks

Well, I could not wait for the weekend-I saw this after another couple hours of play and decided to give it a whirl.
I only played through a save from just before a reinforcement phase and a little into the military phase. The reinforcement phase was the toughest one for my PC-it would take over a minute to complete the starting of that phase. With this new patch, that time has been reduced by about 80%-maybe more. It also seems that the cursor moves even more freely over the map-like it couldn't get better

-
first impression-absolutely fabulous. Of course, there will be more in depth playing soon.
Question; for the multi core fix, is there an option or is it automatic? I did not see any option- Also, was that applicable to quad core only or duel cores also?
I hope this is not too soon

...but, is there a way to have screen shots go into a specified folder in the game folder instead of just a pack of pictures mixed with the actual game files? I normally use a screen capture utility during play and I can save where I want. However, with the looming MP game I may not be able to do that. The F11 key will be very handy. However, to make a habit of dragging dozens of pictures out of the game folder seems a little risky-especially as I may be half awake (like right now) while doing that little chore.
While I'm on the subject of in game screen shots; why BMP? Is it possible to have those shots from the in game utility to take it in JPG? It is not that big a deal for me to convert the pictures, but if that is something that could be change easily I would be interested in doing that.
Anyway-the patch is a big improvement as is. Thanks for you dedication to making this a super game.

There's a new link in WW1 menu folder:
World War One (single-CPU mode)

BMP is a must because so you have the best image quality!
Then if you want a JPG you can simply convert the file...

I see that a large part of map (Russia, Turkey...) does belong to nobody!
I want now to understand if your .MAP file is corrupted or if the cause is a terrible side-effect the performace improvements in Map DB engine...

by calvinus
Mowers, your .MAP file is totally corrupted.
Since area Id 1467 till the last one, all area Unique Identication Ids (Tag) are empty!!!
See below (bold):
BeginAreaMap
Id=1467
Disabled=No
Type=0
Tag=
Name=Emidag
Terrain=TT_Same
Town={|0|0|0|0|0}
IdMapAreaGroup=0
Harbour=HT_NoHarbour
...
EndAreaMap
How that happened???
This is the cause of your problems.
I tried to load a game with 1.08H and save it immediately. No corrupted. Everything works ok.
I will do some further tries later.
Please all others report similar problems with max urgency!

Thanks Calvinus, that would explain alot! I never touch the files myself.
So what do i need to do, sorry I didnt follow you entirely there.
Should I load and then save and then reload to make it work?

Reloading from my save game, I encounter the following bug.
In the Reinforcement phase, I am unable to place further Reinforcements in the Russian III Army, which is my Eastern Front main army due to Czar Plan, because it contains the usual maximum of 7 Corps.
In fact, I should be able to place up to 12 Corps in that Army.
I send you the save game.

The savegame is corrupted, it's useless now!
Do you have a savegame before???
What did you do exactly after installing the 1.08H? Was the save corrupted by 1.08H? And how?

No bug! You simply forgot the stacking limits.
In Lemberg you have HQ V and HQ III....
You can assign the reinforcements to the detachment of III army in neighboring Busk, north of Lemberg.

I do have a save game from the previous turn, I am using that happily enough for the moment.
I have no idea what happened to the save, perhaps something had gone wrong before and patch H tried, and failed, to correct it?
Anyway, lets not worry for now. I will play with my old save and see what occurs.

The key question is: the save you have posted here has been generated by 1.08H???

Good to know! I was very worried!
Now I'm curious to know what sequence of operations made you get such a corrupted savegame!
I'm already doing tons of tests, with no corruption.

I was able to resume a saved game without problem.
The reduction in time for the reinforcement update is great-the only thing that would be faster is instantaneousness.
The CPU usage remains the same, but the RAM usage is drastically reduced-from the previous amount of approx 1.3GB down to .8GB-that makes a difference. (game usage-total was previously 2.3GB and now 1.8GB).
One little oddity, I now have two games listed; one WW1 Gold with the one item of single CPU mode, and the real WW1-both are version H. They both seem to be in the same location (C/Ageod/WW1) , but there are two folders on the start menu
Anyway-I am going to get in some good gaming time today-will report more later.

Very strange! I improved game performance by adding indexes and caches to map engine! So the memory consumption should increase rather than decrease, in favor of a better game performance, as usual in all such cases!

But anyway better so!

Damned Win7 strangeness?

Good job, calvinus, patch looks great.
Just a minor thing:
The shortcut to the single cpu batch is created in a new start menu submenu (World War One > World War One (single CPU mode)), different from the World War one menu (which, in my case is a submenu of an "Ageod" entry. At least in my 2 PCs, where I have WW1, gold and patch installed, in that order (see attached pic).
This may make it difficult to find and should be corrected in a final patch, IMHO
Regards
PS: I see Maestro also found this

. And, no, it happens both in my WinXP and Win7, this at least is not Win7 fault.

Grrr... this is why you installed the Gold Upgrade Kit...
It means I will have to build two different patches???
One for those people who bought the Kit and one for those people who bought WW1 Gold full???

It is no big deal, and I have no problem at all with it. But it can make some confusion to other players...
Sorry, Calvinus, life is tough...
But the good news is: the batch works great. I even think that the recommendation to load all map at start and change mouse sensitivity in Win 7 are not really necessary, things are very fluid right now,even without those options checked in. It was a wonderful solution to all the lag we had

I use two monitors-I always have the resource monitor and/or task manager up while playing. I do this with all games. I am in "tune" with what is being utilized. I only played for 20 minutes last night and this morning. 20 minutes does not verify a standard, but it was consistent in both instances. It is a rather large difference-and there is no possibility that this was due to some other program not running.
calvinus wrote:Damned Win7 strangeness?
I actually still use Vista-I'm used to it now

There's nothing wrong in the patch installer.
In fact it asks you where is the WW1 folder inside the Start Menu of Windows!
Look at this screenshot...

Yes, Calvinus, but as in my case (gold upgrade kit) I have no World War One
Gold submenu it gets created in a different submenu from the of the original game (without gold in it's name). But again, no big deal

In fact in your case you should select the "World War One" folder.
The default displayed is "World War One Gold". In fact, if I change the default, the problem arises for all people who bought the full version, who are less experienced than the Kit buyers!
