next battle button inactive

The game is thinking after a battle (at land or see) and I can't go on.
The "next battle" button is inactived and it should be active. The other battle buttons are inactive too.
I have the 1.08L version and I play with one core start.
My computer has Windows7.
Screen of the situation and last save added.
Help me please!

That used to happen to me commonly BEFORE I patched to version 1.08L.
It still happened afterwards but much less often, maybe once every three or four turns. Still enough to make it unplayable though.
I solved the issue by switching off all sounds (someone suggested a missing/corrupt sound file might be what the computer was looking for), giving up on Army-by-Army activation mode, and ensuring the 'give AI maximum (thinking) time was OFF.
I also gave up on playing the 4-person campaign as a single player - like a few people I had tried playing just as Russia against an AI controlled Germany, Austria and Entente.
Since then hang-ups have been rare, probably about one in 25-30 turns.
I hope this helps.

Three times today

always at the end of a battle, without music and IA too.
I have an Intel Core i5 @2.53GHz 6Gbytes. I think it is good enough to play.
I used to play 4 players and I am playing today 2 players, this is the difference between the other days.
The saved game is always at the start of the turn and the hanging is in the military phase, more than 1 hour later

I'll try your save as soon as possible. I don't have Win7, so I will test under Win Vista. Are you using the single CPU mode?

Yes, single CPU, no problems with mouse movements.
I try again, I am in the october turn, if it fails, I send you.
Thanks!

Another time, in october like last time, but in other battle, last time was in Belgium (GB against GER) and this time in Prussia (RUS against GER) both situations with double battlefront.
When the battle is finish and I have seen the results, the "next battle" button is not active and I can't go on.
I can change the units, call a reserve unit but not combat, retirements or go on.
I can't see the Menu, the ESC is not active.
The files of game (at the start of the turn) and the screen in the moment of hanging.

Ok I will do some tests later tonight. In the meanwhile, as I recall other players had this problem because of some antivirus, what's the antivirus installed on your PC?

I tested both your saves, playing two turns with no freeze during battle. So my advice is to check carefully your antivirus: is it configurable in order to make WW1.exe as a trusted application?

I have Panda.

Thanks!

Mmhh... I remember Panda is one of the antivirus not exactly friendly to WW1. I know also that it's extremely cumberstome even to uninstall it!

I've probed without interceptions, without Panda, without external USB modem, without game-music and it hangs
Something occours when the "brain" over the flag is thinking after (and one time before) a battle.
Calvinus, have you still any idea about the process in this time?

Is the "Give AI full time" option disabled?

Yes, disabled,
but I think I have the answer with the "IA Memory" in the extern config menu
Three turns without hanging

Really??? Great!
So it means the "AI Memory" causes the battle hangs?

I am not sure about it
but it runs with this change and I have not hangings
More turns and I will be sure

I think the reason is that, the more you play, AI Memory option creates huge files and this I/O operation is detected as a threat by the antivirus that so freezes the game. For this reason I added the trashcan button in the Game Options window, to delete this file and refresh the AI memory.

I am probing all the combinations and it occours always if I play with single CPU mode and never with double core (I am still testing).
The IA Memory is not a cause of the hanging.
Hanging situations (always with single core) :
- The "next battle button" is not active, but yes all the other.
- The map doesn't charge at start the game, only it can go on if I press the Windows button (to the desktop) and then I return to the game
I love this game too much I am playing with lags in the mouse movements.
