When inizialiting the game the following message appears:

Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\World War One\WW1.exe
File: e:\progetti\games\sdk\basicclasses\mystring.cpp

... and the game aborts

I run Windows 7

PS: I've installed 1.08i patch

It seems the game texts have not been successfully loaded.
Logged in as PC Admin? UAC off? Maybe you haven't the priviledges for opening the game texts file.

Edit: also run the game in XP SP2 compatibility mode and disable "Desktop composition".

Solved.

It was the UAC.
