Game crash in politics phase after I take Paris with Italy.

Don’t know if it is related but it seems likely. Attached game. Crash when I attempt to end my turn

Wait... how can someone take Paris as the Italians? That's even more humiliating than the Germans.

Perhaps the AI's so frustrated by being beaten off by the Macaronis, it crashes down the game in disgust.

No, he surely managed to get Italians on CP side (diplomatic poker) and UK out of the war!

Is such a case France has no hope!!! :mdr:

OK now it happens again. Consistently and this time I’ve rebooted a few times. I suspect it may be related to the surrender of France and the ending of the game. Please take a look at this save and end the politics phase.

I got just ridiculously lucky with my diplomacy. Also suspect a bug as the UK – once it reached diplomatic status 8 - remained there. The manual indicates it should shift toward the Entente every interpahse and France just seems to give up on conducting diplomacy on her. The result was the pretty much the entire world joined the Central Powers. I wish I could claim to be a genius but that was sheer dumb luck.

Suspect diplomatic poker will be house ruled out in multiplayer as it is just too powerful if the CP gets lucky and it works.

Also the bug is back - see post above

Any chance for a hint what caused it. ;) Just curious – was it the surrender of France? I want to know if I can celebrate my completely unfair and ill-gotten victory in Berlin, or rather Rome.

Damn – so no great victory parade in Rome after all. I’m quite surprised that France refuse to surrender with just about 2/3 of the country occupied including the capital.

No, sorry. The crash was caused by the main front stuff bla bla bla.

But France surrendered and I got the Victory screen. :)

No bug, it's a WAD.

Look at DiplomaticEvents.xls DB (row #8):

ENG DO_DiplomaticSupport PS_Allies PE_RemoveTurnRule 0 0 TR_DiplomaticLevelProgression,ENG

The DO_DiplomaticSupport event is triggered when ENG reaches diplomatic level 8 (see DiplomaticThresholds.xls DB).

So it's working as designed. The LevelProgression rule has been canceled because England passed from Military Support to a simple Diplomatic Support to Allies. :)
