The game is unplayable

Since patch 1.05x, I cant play any turn of the game
It always makes me a windows error in the first turn, at the mimilatry phase (AI or player mouvement, combat or siege).
I joined the last saved game.
For info : all DivX options are off, I play with no sounds and no video, AI log is off, I play turn by turn, army by army but without interception or reaction (to test the stability).
Help me please, I bought U the game at start up but I cant even play one year and that's begin to bore me really a lot

Well, what I suggest is a complete reinstall of the game. Whatever problem you have, it is something very screwed up.
Once you reinstall and apply the latest 1.05c patch, play with default game options, ie. no strictly turn based mode, see if it works. I dont know people who use the army-by-army activation but without reaction and interception so that MIGHT bring out some rare bug, not sure.
Let me know how it went.

Not any change...always blocked in the first turn
I have the same error message from windows

I did all that as well, complete reinstall and all the rest.
I'm still getting game crashes and windows error messages to every game session as well.
Though i do get to have a few turns before it happens. So i am getting to play a little.

Sadly I have to report that after patching to 1.05c my game seems to be unplayable too. I'm in October 1917 and get a crash after dissolving the military moves, the battles (all against enemies without any content) and the sieges.
I've tried 3 times and got everytime a crash even before I could do anything (saving, giving oders,...)
Canceling my only arial mission didn't help me.
Is it perhaps I'm playing a savegame coming from 1.03 (os so)?
Has anyone experience with a new game started with version 1.05c?
I'm thinking about changing back to "American Civil War".
For me it's a real setback.
Edit: I add an error-log created by the system for microsoft. Maybe it will help.

For those who are experiencing problems with 1.05c playing with old savegames, please post here the zipped savegame(s), so that I can investigate if there are compatibility problems with previous versions.
Thanks,
Calvinus.

I tested your savegame with 1.05c using the
exact configuration you described...
no crash... even playing with only 512MB RAM...
One tip: "Lock full-screen" option is off??? Have you selected the "Fit to screen" option (WW1 Configurator)?

Hello Calvinus,
because I'm at work I can't attach my savegames but I attached them already in this thread:
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=12312
With the october save I can't proceed. (crash as described above)
By the way; after a new install of ww1 (and my xp system) patchted to 1.05c I was as central powers again at war with france. (see the other thread)

I put the saved game that I played after my reinstallation of 1.05.c, so it's not an old saved game for this purpose. And for MB Ram, I'm at 2GB
All the options of the configurator are off, even the "lock full screen" option.
For screen resolution I put the "adaptation to the actual screen resolution" option.

Hi,
Testing this new patch version and it seem i experienced a crash due to sound system (and before crash, game stopped to play all sound during several turns).
Disabling sound solved this prob and i go further in turns. I had a prob in 4 players campaign when 2 IA played an air battle each other and no more reaction from game (had to quit).
(Playing with default settings, Win xp, french version, 2 go Ram, dual core E8400, geforce 8800 Gtx).

Can you please double-check if the WW1.exe is really the 1.05c version?
Right-click on the WW1.exe icon (game folder) and select the "Properties" option inside the popup menu that will appear. Once done, you get a window: choose the "Version" tab. Check if the version is 1.0.5.3...
If not, it means the WW1.exe file has not been properly updated by the Patch Installer (Vista admin priviledges problem)?
Thanks,
Calvinus.

I suspect that some players are having problems with the multi-threads in sound system. Probably the freeze upon music load causes a crash on some PCs. A quick solution could be to set the "Load all sounds at start" option as
on and the "Play sounds in streaming mode" option as
off.

I successfully reproduced your crash, related to air warfare (air missions), and I fixed it. So you all will have this bug fixed with the next patch.

But I had no crash direct after an air mission. I crashed at the end of the military resolution - with and without air mission; no difference.

Yoppy, do you have these crashes with new games as well? (and not just with savedgames started with a previous patch)

I have to try it. First I wanted to finish my grand campaign.
...
OK. Without sound I got a crash too.
So I started a quick and new tannenberg scenario and played (with sound) easy and fast till the end without a crash.
But I'm anxious about getting disappointments by starting a new grand campaign.

The crashes of yoppy are caused by a memory leak due to an air mission scheduled by AI for a stack that is destroyed for Isolation.
So herewith a very quick fix you can do by yourself, waiting for the new patch...
Run MS Excel and open the
GameRules.CSV DB, located in
[game folder]\Data\DB.
Go to row #232, tagged
ISD, and change the "Value" (column #2... I remember)
from 1 to
-1.
This will make isolated stacks not destroyed, so no memory leak...

Seems to go better like this, no more returns on windows, but battle sounds disappear definitely after playing some turns (i will try to find if there is conditions).
I noticed incoherences with some events : some of them are coming back after i used them (like technologie, double agent...). Other players encountered this prob :
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=12362
IA vs IA air battle stopped the game in 4 players campaign.
Globaly i report nice improvments since start, and this game has an interesting IA and diplomacy.
(Playing with default settings, Win xp, french version, 2 go Ram, dual core E8400, geforce 8800 Gtx).

I guess I understand. The AI is planing an air mission, so there is no way for me to cancel this one. Thank you for your help calvinus. I wish I can finish my grand campaign. Even if there are quit some problems with the gameplay I addicted to this game.
One question:
Here is the row #232:
ISD;1;1;How many turns a detachment may stay 'isolated' before automatic destruction? (-1 means infinite turns)
Do I have to change the first or second number?
Merry Xmas to all of you.
P.S.: Tonite the movie "Merry Christmas" is shown on german TV. It's about an historical event on Xmas 1914 on the western front, when french, canadian, british an german soldiers celebrated together.
.............................................................
Edit: I found out by myself;it's the first "1"

The error would probably help

Tough to troubleshoot with so little information.

I submitted the source code of the sound engine wrapper to the developer who sold us the irrKlang music library. He answered me that everything looks ok...
I will inform you about the problems that some of you are suffering because of the sound system.
Thanks,
Calvinus.

Thanks. As it was suggested above I checked the option "load sound at start" and now it seems ok, no sound effects lost during the game.
By the way great game, when these stuff will be ironed out it will be very good

Stability is still for me a big problem, windows errors again tonight while opening the doctrine button, and another during a siege.
I have a Core Duo E2160, 1.80 GHZ, 2.00 GB RAM and a NVDIA GForce 7900 GS
