For those interested in th history of the First World War the best DVD Collection is "The Great War" which is now a 7 DVD box set. It was a series produced by BBC2 in 1964 for the 50th anniversary. The first 2 DVDs are a very good explanation of how the whoe business started but the real vale lies in two things, 1. it was made before the "Butchers & Bunglesrs" school became the accepted orthodoxy so it is more ballanced than usual and 2. A lot of veterans were alive at the time and they were interviewed. Mostly french, German and British Empire. For example one famous story is that FM French was too hidebound to accept the sightings from the RFC telling him how strong the Germans were, the the actual pilot who reported to French is interviewed.

Expensive but well worth it for those who are interested in the War.
