Version Letter

I have updated to the latest beta version P but I'm only seeing version letter m show up on the front page.
When I updated previously to the official version O I was still seeing version M.
Ia there anyway I can tell that I have the latest version installed?

Your patch failed, as I can see "1.0.8p" on my screen.

Why did it fail?
I will try to delete everything and reinstall.
I forget, do I need original WWI installed before installing gold version or is gold version
standalone?

I think there's no need to reinstall. Just disable the UAC and be sure you're logged in as PC Administrator.
When you haven't the priviledges of PC Administrator, the patch installer does not work propertly because it's not able to overwrite the files, so included the WW1.ini file where the version is stored (that's why you do not see the letter P on the screen).
