Final Patch?

Any idea when? As my game is unplayable as is and it is one of my favorites! I so look forward to hopefully an non lag/locked up game!

Hello, a new beta patch 1.08P is online. Have you tried it? You can find it in "Help improve WW1" section. It fixes some crashes and other bugs, rare tough... Besides this, the game was quite stable also before 1.08P. What's you OS and antivirus?

Norton Antivirus is the main cause of lags, freezes and crashes. Also, it cannot be configured to make WW1 as a trusted application. I tried several solutions with no success...

Well Norton is about to expire!!! I need to know which anti virus system works well with this game as it IS one of my all time favorites!!!

I use ESET NOD-32 v5 and have no issues with any game or program including WW1G but it's not cheap.
AVAST is freeware and by many accounts is an effective virus scanner, find it using Google.
On another note, this last patch seems to have cured the problem with lockups and CTD's that I used to see in WW1G when I tried to run more than a couple of turns in a row. Also, graphics issues that I used to experience after minimizing the game seem to be a thing of the past so a big Thanks, Calvinus!

I use AVG (the free edition) and it hasn't had any problems with WW1.

IIRC Norton is difficult to uninstall completely, it tends to leave bits behind that may cause problems. Maybe try Revo Uninstaller or at least a Registry cleanup with Ccleaner after you uninstall Norton...

I can recommend the free Avast anti-virus version. Although you'll probably want to turn off their new "auto"sandbox mode as it's quite overzealous. Luckily just a checkbox to get rid of, though.
And Norton can definitely be a pain to fully get rid of. First you need to uninstall it from your Add/Remove Progams in Control Panel (if using WinXP) and make sure to select the Main Norton program to uninstall - the others will usually point you to which that is, if you do try to uninstall the wrong one first, but ya never know with Norton's un/installer. Norton, as a whole, has been quite a pain in the rear for awhile now and you likely won't miss it at all.
