Strange doings in September 1914

Playing 2 player campaign as CP in September 1914 politics/event phase.

First, I get a message that France has played on its alliance partner GB an event that causes a revolt in the African colonies, and that GB must garrison the colony or further troubles will happen. They also lose some NW.

Then, when I go to draw my events, I get a pop up window about revolts in GB. I get to choose between a revolt in Ireland or in the British West Indies. I choose Ireland, and now GB must deploy 3 corps there as a garrison. After that phase is over, and I draw my 1 event card for supplementary munitions, I scroll over to Ireland and find a counter there, a man in a suit, with a German flag colored base. When I mouse over, it says "Rebellion in Germany. Riots and turmoils everywhere."

So, is this WAD, a strange bit of bad luck for the British, a mandatory rebellion, or is there some problem?

The allies are really doing it to themselves in this game, now as I click to end the events phase and enter diplomacy phase, I see that France has played the event 'Strikes' on its ally Russia, and the Russians are now dealing with a strike, even though their NW was 35.

Other events seemed to make sense, as the Entente played the blockade on me.

An Allied Strike event has a 50% chance of being played against Russia.

The "Strike" events are mandatory: once drawn, they are enacted against the drawing nation. Nothing to do, only take the strike.

When you see that France played a strike against Russia, it's indeed an unhappy combination of parametrical texts. Indeed the game uses the same text formula for all events, so generating a bit confusion in some occurrences.
France is the main nation of the alliance, so she represents the "player". I guess that Russia drew the event "Strike" and the game engine informed you about it telling the "France" player (Entente) has been forced to play the "Strike" event against Russia.

"Rebellions", "Nationalist Agitation" and "Colonial Uprisings" are mandatory too, like strikes, but offer a wider range of opportunities: play it against one particula nation. :)

Which, apparently, does not prevent France from playing them on Britain or Germany playing the dreaded Mutiny event on Austro-Hungary :bonk:

OK Calvinus, thanks for the information. This makes more sense now.

While I would rather have you working on perfecting the game, I am wondering if someone might be able to add a section to the appendices regarding all the different events -- when they can be played, who is eligible, which ones are mandatory, etc. which would help clear a lot of these questions up.
