Annoying Game Features

I have been reading most of the posts here with interest and waited until the 1.05c patch before taking the plunge and buying the game. So, I have seen all of the complaints about the game to date and all of the fixes.

Unfortunately, I am now starting to experience some of these problems first hand, but I am willing to help out where I can or wait until a fix comes along.

I have noticed a game feature that has proven to be very annoying and since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on the fourmn, I thought I would say something. This is the constantly changing intensity of the map's colors or pulsating colors.

When I choose a unit for movement, I can see that the areas within reach become a bright yellow but then while I am deciding where to move it, the map slowly darkens to the point where I cannot tell which areas are available and I have to wait until the map slowly changes color back to where I can see the yellow again.

Is there a way to turn this off? If not, why was this created in the first place? I can't imagine players really want a pulsating map.

Also, it seems like the flag colors for the unit types (eg conscript, veteran, elite) were randomly picked and don't follow a logical progression. Is it too late to change this? I would think that grey should be for the lowest untrained conscript or militia, then progress to white, yellow, orange, red for veteran and finally purple for elite units. IMHO

Well, those are my first observations I felt worth mentioning here. Where can I suggest fixes for grammatical errors in the English text?

Kudos on a great game concept and bringing it to reality.

I'm also surprised n one has mentioned the pulsating map. It is distracting, and I can't see that it serves any purpose.

Actually I did mention this some while ago but in the context of a number of queries. I didn't use the word 'pulsating' but this is an excellent way to describe the effect. I agree that it is a distracting feature and would like to see the back of it.

Yeah, good point. I'm always annoyed by the darkening, pulsating map but figured I could live with it. Come to think of it, why should it be doing that at all?

It hasn't bothered me, but of course it serves no practical purpose, so I guess Calvinus can change it if the people want that. :)

I have to concur with this assessment...sometimes the more "bells and whistles" that are added to a game, the louder the noise it creates... :D ... ;)

We'll see if can put this as an ON/OFF option in the game's parameters ;)
